South African Metro Police Application Forms 2024: How to Apply

Metro Police form

The Metro police department is not the same as the South African police service like many people imagine. The Metro police was established as a totally separate entity in 2002.

The Metro Police Service, which is also known as the Metropolitan Police, is the territorial police department responsible for the prevention of crime and law enforcement, which includes activities such as checking for illegal traders and overloaded vehicles. They are also trained to manage road traffic in the event of an accident, car breakdown, etc.

Metro police application is for the unemployed youth of South Africa, between the age range of 18 and 35 years. To become a Metro police in South Africa, there are different requirements and processes that must be completed.

First of all, there must be an advertisement for vacant positions before the application form which is the first qualifying requirement is released to the public. Once that is done, application forms are released for interested candidates to apply.

You can also receive the form via SMS by dialing the short code, 3302 after typing Metro. You will have to answer 14 questions and each need to be sent via SMS. The charge for each SMS is about R1.50 for every SMS.

However, before applying, here are a few basic requirements that must be met. Every interested candidate must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Be between the ages of 18-35.
  • Have Matric/grade 12 certificate or it’s equivalent
  • Have no criminal record
  • Have a valid Code B driving  license
  • Be mentally and physically fit.
  • Not have a tattoo
  • Be prepared to work under pressure
  • Have a good communication skill

HOW TO APPLY

Once the vacancy has been advertised, here are the steps to follow when applying:

  • Send your CV to the Tshwane recruitment office, stating all your information. This must be done before the closing date of the advertisement.
  • After sending your CV, the Human Resources Division will handle the pre-selection of the candidates.
  • A specific pre-selection process will be followed as indicated by the Department of Community Safety. All selection criteria for evaluations are determined by the HOD or his/her nominee.
  • Once the pre-selection process is completed, candidates will undergo interviews and medical evaluation to further ascertain their fitness.
  • After the successful completion of these processes, the qualified candidates will be appointed as student constables.
