This article contains information on how to gain access to the Tshwane University of Technology, TUT myTUTor Student Learning Management System (https://mytutord2l.tut.ac.za), also known as the TUT E-Learning Management System (LMS).
STEPS ON HOW TO ACCESS AND ENROL FOR THE TUT myTUTor PORTAL SYSTEM.
The following is a guide on how to access and use the TUT myTUTor Learning Management System (LMS) for the 2026 academic year.
- Open your internet browser — Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Safari are recommended. Always use an up-to-date browser version.
- Go to the TUT myTUTor Portal at https://mytutord2l.tut.ac.za
- Your Username is your student number followed by @tut4life.ac.za — for example: 260123456@tut4life.ac.za
- Your Password is the same as your TUT4life email password.
- To configure a new password, visit the TUT4Life password reset page at https://tut4life.tut.ac.za/password/ and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Return to the myTUTor home page and log in using steps 3 and 4 above.
Important for new students: After completing registration, you must wait 48 hours before your myTUTor and Student Portal accounts become active. This is a system processing requirement, not a technical error. Do not attempt to log in before this period has elapsed.
Password Policy: Your TUT4Life password expires every 90 days. Use the official TUT Password Manager App (available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store) to reset your password when required.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): As of October 2024, MFA is mandatory for all students. You are required to complete a daily MFA check-in to maintain access to all TUT digital platforms. Follow the official Step-by-Step MFA setup guide available at https://www.tut.ac.za/media/tshwane-interim/site-content/images/general/Step-By-Step-Document.pdf
