How to Access VUT Self Check Login Portal | statuscheck.vut.ac.za
If you’re a prospective or registered student at Vaal University of Technology (VUT), understanding which online portal to use for which purpose is essential. The VUT Self Check portal is a dedicated facility for prospective applicants to track the status of their academic admission application — it is not used for checking academic results. For the 2026 academic year, VUT has a new, more user-friendly online application and self-check system designed to give applicants faster, simpler access to their admission status. This guide explains how to use the Self Check portal and the key systems connected to it.
HOW TO LOG IN TO THE VUT SELF CHECK
- Open up your web browser and visit the official VUT Self Check portal at https://statuscheck.vut.ac.za/
- Once there, enter your Student Number, Passport Number, or ID Number into the provided field to retrieve your current admission status instantly.
- The system will display your academic admission status. Official correspondence regarding the outcome of your application will also be sent to you based on the details captured in this system.
Note: The Self Check portal is exclusively for prospective applicants checking their admission application status. It does not provide access to academic results, financial records, or any other student services. Registered students must use the iEnabler portal at https://ienablerprod.vut.ac.za/pls/prodi41/w99pkg.mi_login for all academic and financial management. You can also keep track of your academic journey by checking important details such as VUT registration dates and deadlines.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE LOGGING IN
Before logging in to the Vaal University of Technology portals, here is what you need to know:
- The Self Check portal at https://statuscheck.vut.ac.za/ does not require a username or password — you only need your Student Number, ID Number, or Passport Number to check your admission status.
- For the iEnabler portal and your student email, you will need your student number and a password. New students must update their default password before they can access these systems. This is a mandatory security step — attempting to log in with a default password will result in access being denied.
- For security purposes, your iEnabler and email password should be at least eight characters long, with a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Make sure your student number or ID number is correct before entering your details into any portal. Without ensuring all this information is correct, you may be locked out temporarily or prevented from accessing your account altogether.
HOW TO CHANGE YOUR VUT SELF CHECK PASSWORD
Password management for your VUT student account (used for iEnabler and your student email) is handled through the official Password Self-Service portal. To update or reset your password:
- Visit the official VUT password update portal at https://logmein.vut.ac.za/adfs/portal/updatepassword/
- You will be guided through a secure process to verify your identity and set a new password.
- After entering the required information correctly and completing verification, create a new password that meets the university’s password policy requirements.
Note: New students must update their default password through this portal before they can log into any other VUT system, including the iEnabler portal and the student email. Failure to do this first will result in login failures across all platforms. Be sure your new password is secure and cannot be easily guessed. You should also update your VUT email address details to ensure you receive all important notifications, including the ITS PIN needed to access the iEnabler portal.
HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT VUT SELF CHECK LOGIN PROBLEMS
- For the Self Check portal, ensure you are entering the correct Student Number, ID Number, or Passport Number — there is no username or password required for this portal.
- For iEnabler or student email login issues, first ensure your default password has been updated through the official password portal at https://logmein.vut.ac.za/adfs/portal/updatepassword/. Attempting to log in with a default, unchanged password is the most common cause of access failure.
- If you have forgotten your iEnabler ITS PIN, visit the iEnabler login page and select the option to request a forgotten PIN. The system will send a new PIN securely to your official VUT student email address (StudentNumber@edu.vut.ac.za). Check your email to retrieve it.
- Make sure your web browser is up-to-date. Using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge is recommended for best compatibility with VUT portals.
- Check your internet connection to ensure you do not have weak connectivity.
- If problems persist, contact VUT’s official IT support desk directly:
- Email: it_support@vut.ac.za
- Phone: +27(0)16 950 9111 (Monday to Friday, 07:45–16:30, excluding public holidays)
- General student enquiries: studentenquiries@vut.ac.za or 086 186 1888
- Students applying for advanced programmes should also review the VUT postgraduate application form requirements to avoid delays.
If you run into any login issues, contact VUT IT Services at it_support@vut.ac.za or call +27(0)16 950 9111 for assistance. You can also consult the latest VUT postgraduate prospectus for information about your programme.
