This article contains information on the Mangosuthu University, MUT registration process and guidelines for new and continuing students, thereby preparing them for the semester of the 2024 academic year.

The registration is done via the ITS iEnabler, which is a self-help/online system. The system is accessible off-campus for convenience. You don’t have to stand in long queues and you don’t have to come to campus. This guide will enable you to process your online registration successfully.

MUT REGISTRATION GUIDELINES AND PORTAL

HOW WILL MUT INFORM APPLICANTS THAT THEIR APPLICATION IS SUCCESSFUL?

  • MUT will send an sms to all successful In this sms an applicant will be given a student number as well as the Qualification Code for which the applicant has been accepted and the date the applicant should register on.

HOW TO MAKE A PAYMENT?

  • No applicant or student will be able to register unless a minimum of R1000-00 registration deposit is paid.
  • If you are an NSFAS beneficiary, you are not required to pay this R1000-00 However, an sms will be sent to you before registration date informing you that you can register.
  •   If you need student accommodation, the following deposits will need to be paid:

If you are not an NSFAS beneficiary you must pay the amount into MUT’s bank account, the details of which are below:

  • Bank: ABSA Bank
  • Account Holder: Mangosuthu University of Technology
  • ACCOUNT NUMBER: 4063827633
  • BRANCH CODE: 634926

Please use your student number that is on the sms as your reference.

  • You can only be able to register a day after you have made the payment
  • Please always verify the account number before you make a payment using the provided contact details
Fee Concessions for Returning Students – Privately Funded Students

Students registering for Tuition and Accommodation

  • Students wishing to register for Tuition and Accommodation will be allowed to register and be eligible for accommodation provided the balance owing to the University from the prior period does not exceed R10 000
  • Students who have balances greater than R10 000 outstanding from previous years will not be eligible to register unless payment is made to bring the balance owing to within the R10 000 threshold upon registration.

Students registering for Tuition only

  • Students registering for Tuition only and have balances outstanding will only be allowed to register provided full payment is made or payment towards the outstanding balance is made according to the table below:
Arrear amount due Payment to be made towards Arrear Amount
R1 – R10 000 R1 000 (or the balance due if less than R1 000)
R10 001 – R20 000 R2 000 + R1000.00 deposit
R20 001 – R30 000 R3 000 + R1000.00 deposit
R30 001 – R40 000 R5 000 + R1000.00 deposit
R40 001 + Registration to be advised upon after consultation with the Office of the Registrar & Finance Department.
  • Students will have to pay the amounts required on the Concession breakdown as well as R1000.00 deposit for current semester and send proof of payment to the below email address.
  • All students with arrear balances carried forward into 2020 will be required to sign an “Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD)” form as per Annexure E and agree to a payment plan for the repayment of the outstanding Copy of ID and Bank statement required.

HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE?

  • STEP 1: Go to MUT official website.
  • STEP 2: Click on student portal
  • STEP 3: Click on STUDENT IENABLER
  • STEP 4: Click on Student
  • STEP 5: Enter your Student number on student number field
  • STEP 6: Enter the pin you are currently using or the default pin (46579) if you have not changed it.
  • STEP 7: Click on Login button
  • STEP 8: Once you have logged on, click on Registration on the left hand side of the screen
  • STEP 9: Click on RULES AND REGULATIONS
  • STEP 10: Scroll down and click on the I Accept button
  • STEP 11: Click on Submit Registration on the left hand side of the screen STEP 12: Click on Your Employment Status and select UNEMPLOYED option STEP 13: Click on Save and Continue
  • STEP 14: The list of subjects you are eligible to register for will appear. Select all the subjects by clicking on the check boxes next to each subject.
  • STEP 15: Click on save and continue button
  • STEP 16: Click on Continue button
  • STEP 17: Click on Accept Registration button. Registration is now complete.
  • STEP 18: Once you have completed registration you must click on Proof of registration which is on the left hand side of the screen.
  • STEP 19: You can print your registration status.
  • STEP 20: Activation of your student card is done on campus

Note: Step 1-20 must be completed before you are fully registered as a MUT student.

HOW TO GET ACCOMMODATION?

  • An applicant must first apply for accommodation even if the applicant is funded by NSFAS.
  • An sms will be sent to the successful applicants
  • Refer to above for deposits to be made should you require accommodation as well.
  • The applicant will not be able to gain access to residence if the payment is not made.

HOW TO APPLY FOR ACCOMMODATION?

  • STEP 1: Go to MUT official website.
  • STEP 2: Click on student portal
  • STEP 3: Click on Student IEnabler then
  • STEP 4: Enter student number that is on the sms sent to applicant then
  • STEP 5: Enter default pin that is on the sms sent to an applicant then
  • STEP 6: Click on Residence Application then
  • STEP 7: Click on Residence Rules and Regulations and scroll down and click on I ACCEPT button then
  • STEP 8: Click on Submit Residence Application then
  • STEP 9: Click on New Record then
  • STEP 10: Click on Building and a list of Buildings will appear and select the building of your choice.
  • STEP 11: Click on PROCEED WITH APPLICATION

Note: Step 1-11 must be completed before you are fully registered to residence.

  • RESIDENCE – A (MALE ONLY)
  • RESIDENCE – B (MALE ONLY)
  • RESIDENCE – C (FEMALE ONLY)
  • RESIDENCE – D (MIXED GENDER)
  • RESIDENCE – E (FEMALES ONLY)
  • RESIDENCE – F (FEMALES ONLY)
  • RESIDENCE – G (FEMALES ONLY)
  • RESIDENCE – H (MIXED GENDER) 

HOW TO REGISTER FOR ACCOMMODATION?

The system will allow an applicant to register for residence once he or she has registered academically. First register academically and then registers for residence.

  • STEP 1: Go to MUT official website.
  • STEP 2: Click on student portal
  • STEP 3: Click on Student IEnabler then
  • STEP 4: Enter student number that is on the sms sent to applicant then
  • STEP 5: Enter default pin that is on the sms sent to an applicant then
  • STEP 6: Click on Residence Registration then
  • STEP 7: Click on Residence Registration Rules and Regulations scroll down and click on I ACCEPT then
  • STEP 8: Click on Submit Residence Registration
  • STEP 9: Click on Confirm button
  • STEP 10: Click on Residence Registration status to print proof of residence registration

Note: Step 1-10 must be completed before you are fully registered to residence.

Please note that registration for 2023 will be open after admissions have been completed.
