The application for the Wits Mining Institute Bursary for the academic year 2022/2023 is now open by Wits Mining Institute for all South Africans in South Africa.
We are looking for ONE suitable candidate to conduct a full–time MSc research project on “Application of Advanced Numerical Modelling to Geotechnical Investigations for Underground Fall of Ground and Mine Seismicity”.
The bursary will be funded by Sibanye-Stillwater through the Sibanye-Stillwater Digital Mining Laboratory (DigiMine) and according to the Wits Mining Institute (WMI) bursary policy. The bursary includes and is subject to the following conditions:
- MSc Tuition and Registration Fee for two years (as per Wits fee statement)
- Living Stipend R10,000/month for first twelve months and R?,500/month for next maximum six months (stipend is subject to the satisfactory performance and contribution in the laboratory)
- Access to state-of–the-art software’s (if required)
- Dedicated research desk with good computational facilities
- Opportunities to attend the courses/seminars/conferences (subject to availability of funds and performance)
- Student needs to be present and work from DigiMine all the time
- Student and supervisor(s) needs to adhere the WMI research policy
