We are pleased to announce that the application for the Cuban Government Scholarships for Zambian Nationals (2025/2026 Academic Year) is now open.


The Cuban Government offers five (05) scholarships to Zambian nationals for the 2025/2026 academic year in the following fields:

  1. Medicine (1 slot)
  2. Social and Human Sciences (2 slots)
  3. Bachelor of Art History (1 slot)
  4. Bachelor of Management for Sociocultural Development (1 slot)

The scholarships aim to support Zambian students in pursuing undergraduate studies in Cuba.


Cuban Government Scholarships Eligibility and Requirements

General Eligibility:

  • Zambian citizen with a valid Green National Registration Card (NRC).
  • Must possess or acquire a valid passport before traveling.

Undergraduate Applicants:

  • Academic:
    • Completed Grade 12 between 2022–2024 with Grades 1–3 in English, Mathematics, and relevant subjects.
    • Pure Sciences required for Medicine applicants.
  • Age: Between 18 and under 25 years by September 2025.
  • Documents:
    • Birth certificate.
    • Certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts, NRC, and passport pages 2–3.
    • Eight (8) color passport-sized photos.

Conditions:

  • Scholarship covers tuition and basic expenses.
  • Applicant’s own costs: Travel to/from the airport and any uncovered expenses.

Cuban Government Scholarships Application Procedure

  1. Prepare Documents:
    • Typed application letter stating desired field of study and contact details.
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV).
    • Certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts, NRC, passport pages 2–3.
    • Study Plan (200 words for undergraduates) explaining how the course aligns with Zambia’s development.
    • Letter of recommendation from secondary school (for undergraduates).
  2. Payment:
    • Deposit K100 application fee at any NATSAVE branch and attach the deposit slip.
  3. Medical Tests:
    • Nominated candidates must undergo HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis A/B, TB, and pregnancy (for females) tests.
  4. Submission:
    • Submit via post or hand delivery to:
      • Postal Address: The Chief Executive Officer, Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board, P.O. Box 320298, Lusaka.
      • Hand Delivery:
        • HELSB Offices in Lusaka, Kitwe (Copperbelt University), Kabwe (Mulungushi University), or Olympia Park Extension.

Deadline

  • The application deadline is February 28th, 2025.

Important Notes:

  • No cash payments accepted at HELSB offices.
  • Penalty: Last-minute withdrawal after nomination may result in sanctions, including blacklisting.
