Application for the HELSB Cuban Government Scholarships For Zambian Students – 2022/2023 Entry is now open in selected universities in Cuba.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Zambian nationals that meet the minimum requirements outlined here below to contest for one (1) scholarship under the Cuban Government Scholarship Scheme for the 2024/2025 Academic Year.

Available are Undergraduate scholarships in the following fields of study: Medicine.

The Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) was established with an additional mandate of sourcing for funds, allocating and disbursing student loans to Zambians pursuing higher education in recognized institutions of higher learning. It also has the mandate to recover all mature loans disbursed since 2004.

HELSB CUBAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Undergraduate Scholars are selected on the following criteria:

  • Be Zambian citizens with Green National Registration Cards (NRC)
  • Have a Birth Certificate;
  • Have a Zambian Passport valid for at least one (1) year.
  • Be school leavers who completed Grade 12 in 2020 and 2021;
  • Have Grades 1-3 in English, Mathematics and subjects relevant to the intended field of study;
  • Have Pure Sciences if applying for General Medicine and all Engineering programmes; and
  • Be between 19 and 23 years by October 2022.

Candidates should meet their own cost towards:

  • Expenses to and from the airport; and
  • Any short fall not adequately covered by the scholarship;

HELSB CUBAN GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The application will only be complete if the following documents are submitted;

Applicants should submit:

  • A typed application letter responding to the advertisement, clearly stating the field of study desired, age and mobile phone number for easy communication;
  • Curriculum Vitae, copies of Statement of Results, NRC, certified copy of applicant’s birth certificate, Two (2) colour passport size photos and colour photocopy of pages 2 and 3 of applicant’s passport;
  • A study plan or synopsis of summarized details of the preferred course and how the intended course of study will enhance one’s contribution to Zambia’s development (200 words);
  • A clear copy of the deposit slip for application fee from NATSAVE.

Nominated candidates will be required to undertake a French language course at Alliance Francaise in Lusaka.
