This article contains information on how to access the University of Zambia Moodle Portal for 2026.

The Moodle platform is the official e-learning management system (LMS) used by the University of Zambia to support online and blended learning. It allows students to access course materials, submit assignments, and interact with lecturers. The Moodle platform is now a standard part of academic delivery at UNZA, supporting both distance and on-campus students.

University of Zambia UNZA Moodle Portal 2026

The University of Zambia (UNZA) adopted the Learning Management System (LMS) to make it easy for students to attend classes online, access lecture notes, and submit assignments from anywhere at any time. Only registered students can access the portal using their official UNZA credentials.

STEPS ON HOW TO ACCESS AND ENROL FOR THE UNZA MOODLE

When you first visit the Moodle site you will see the front page with the list of courses available for students.

The Moodle interface can be customised. The “My Home” dashboard provides users with links to various programmes, courses, and activities such as unread forum posts and upcoming assignments.

  • My Home usually has the Course Overview block in the centre. Categories and child courses may display under the main courses depending on site settings.
  • On the My Home screen, courses in the Navigation block are expanded by default.
Logging In

In the top right corner of the Moodle site you will find a link that says “You are not logged in (Log In)”. Click the link and Moodle will present you with the login page.

Editing Your User Profile

Once you have successfully logged in, click on your name in the upper-right corner to view your user profile. Press the Edit Profile button to update your personal details including your profile summary, interests, and contact information.

STEPS ON HOW TO ACCESS AND ENROL FOR THE UNZA E-LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

The online teaching and learning activities are facilitated as follows:

  1. The Institute of Distance Education (IDE) uses Astra E-learning for all programmes
  2. The Graduate School of Business (GSB) uses Astria E-learning for all programmes
  3. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences uses Astria for postgraduate programmes only
  4. All other schools and units use the Moodle platform for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
  5. All e-platforms are accessible through the University website
  6. Click Login. You must already have an account created to be able to log in
  7. Enter your username and password
  8. Click Login after entering your credentials

All students automatically have a University of Zambia email account as follows:

  1. Email address: computernumber@student.unza.zm
  2. Default password: your computer number

All students are reminded to reset their passwords after logging in for the first time. In case of any trouble accessing the UNZA email system, contact the support team in your respective school.

Additional Information

The university provides online training resources for staff and students who need extra guidance on using the e-learning platforms. Self-taught materials are available directly on the platforms. Students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with their programmes and courses before the semester commences.

eLEARNING PORTAL FOR SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES POSTGRADUATE STUDENTS

All School of Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate programmes are taught using Astria. All students automatically have a UNZA email. Instructions for accessing your Astria account are sent to your university email.

Steps to access your UNZA email and Astria account:

  1. Your email address is: computernumber@student.unza.zm and the password is your computer number
  2. UNZA email accounts are Google (Gmail) accounts. Access your email at https://mail.google.com/
  3. Once you access your email, follow the instructions from the Astria platform to access the online portal
  4. Update your mobile phone number on Astria using the link: https://myhss.unza.zm/user_info_form
  5. For further assistance, send an email to support.hss@unza.zm

Note: Only registered UNZA students can access the Moodle and Astria platforms using their official university credentials.
