Every year the University of Zambia (UNZA) publishes vacant position for interested & qualified Zambian citizens to apply for. This year is not an exception. Therefore the Jobs are listed below together with their requirements, roles, salary and qualifications.

VACANT POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS AT UNZA

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions at the University of Zambia:

1. SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES

JOB TITLE: DEAN – SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES (1 POSITION)

JOB PURPOSE: Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean is responsible for planning, organising, coordinating and directing academic, administrative and financial operations of the School.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Controls and coordinates all activities and operations of the School;
  • Initiates the formulation of policies and guidelines governing the operations of the School;
  • Ensures implementation of policies and guidelines governing the operations of the School;
  • Oversees all teaching and learning activities in the University;
  • Ensures the development and review of curricula in the School to meet the demands of the industry/society;
  • Oversees research and consultancy activities in the School;
  • Oversees the enrolment and registration of students and ensures that the School has
  • adequate numbers of students in all programmes;
  • Ensures that infrastructure and all other facilities in the School are adequate and in proper working order;
  • Coordinates planning and implementation of the School budget, and ensures prudent utilisation of financial and physical resources;
  • Ensures that the operations of the School are financially sustainable;
  • Leads in the mobilisation of financial resources for the School by ensuring the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives for generating revenue;
  • Supervises subordinate staff and ensures that performance appraisal is conducted for all staff in the School; and
  • Directs the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports and submits the same to the Vice-Chancellor on a regular basis.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of specialization;
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of specialization;
  • PhD in a relevant field of specialization;
  • Minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience as an academic practitioner and must
  • be at the level of Senior Lecturer or above; and
  • Must have proof of valid membership to a professional organization or association.

2. VICE CHANCELLOR’S UNIT

JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR – QUALITY ASSURANCE (1 POSITION)

PURPOSE: Responsible for providing strategic leadership in all quality assurance matters in the academic and non-academic functions of the University in order to realise the goal of quality enhancement in conformity with best national and international standards.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Providing strategic leadership in initiating the formulation of policies pertaining to quality assurance;
  • Designing and implementation of quality assurance monitoring and evaluation procedures;
  • Directing periodical evaluations to measure the level of adherence to quality assurance set standards;
  • Coordinating the setting and adaptation of best practices and international standards;
  • Directing the analysis of quality assurance evaluation data in order to identify any deviations from quality assurance standards;
  • Ensuring that the University complies with national and international standards and legislation pertaining to quality assurance in University education;
  • Ensuring that practices in the University are benchmarked with those for leading
  • Universities in the region in order to introduce best systems;
  • Reviewing of quality assurance policies as and when necessary to ensure that they effectively address prevailing quality assurance challenges;
  • Interpreting and communicating quality assurance standards to ensure that quality standards are understood and pursued at all the levels of the University;
  • Providing leadership in sensitizing University staff on the importance of quality assurance;
  • Demanding compliance to national and international standards;
  • Directly supervising the Quality Assurance Manager – Academic and the Quality
  • Assurance Manager – Non-Academic and indirectly all other subordinate staff in the Directorate; and
  • Overseeing the planning, development and management of the Quality Assurance

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelors’ degree in any relevant field from a reputable University;
  • Master’s degree in any relevant field from a reputable University;
  • PhD degree in any relevant field from a reputable University;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant work experience; and
  • Must be ICT Literate.
