This article contains information on the University of Zambia, UNZA Application form and Requirements for admission into the School of Mines Programmes for the 2024/2025 intake. The programmes include the following:

• Bachelor Of Science In Geology
• Bachelor Of Engineering In Mining Engineering
• Bachelor Of Engineering In Metallurgy And Mineral Processing

The School of Mines offers a four-year programme of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Mineral Sciences (BMinSc). Students are admitted to the School of Mines on a competitive basis after successfully completing the first year in the School of Natural Sciences. Upon entering the School of Mines, the students are directed to one of the three disciplines, depending mainly on their personal preferences and also on the guidance of the staff of the School, especially the Heads of Department. However. personal preference does not necessarily guarantee admission to any of the three departments as much would depend upon the background of the student.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA SCHOOL OF MINES ADMISSION APPLICATION GUIDELINES

• The application fee is K150.00 for those applying from within Zambia and US$60.00 or its equivalent in a convertible currency for those applying from outside the country. The fee is non-refundable. The application form can also be downloaded HERE
• Applicants can also deposit the application fee to First National Bank Zambia, UNZA Registrar’s A/C, NO. 62607694371 Head Office Acacia Branch. ENSURE that, you attach the original deposit slip with your full names of the applicant written on the deposit slip as proof of payment for the application form to be processed. UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA SCHOOL OF MINES ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

A candidate may be admitted directly into the School of Mines if one has the following:

1.    GCE O Level holders

Candidates admitted under Category A and B will be required to do First Year in the School of Natural Sciences before they could come to School of Mines at Second Year.

2.    Readmission/Change of programmes within the University of Zambia

Readmission and/or change of programmes from other schools will be considered for applicants who cleared first-year courses in the School of Natural Sciences / Education (with Sciences) at the University of Zambia and Copperbelt University (CBU).

3.    A-Level holders

Candidates with A-Levels in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics from recognized institutions are eligible to apply for direct entry into the School of Mines Degree Programmes (Exempted from all first-year courses).

4.    Diploma holders

Candidates with a diploma in either Geology, Mining Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or any related field from a recognized institution are eligible to apply for direct entry into the School of Mines Degree Programmes.
