Fully Funded Health Scholarships at KNUST

The Africa Health Collaborative, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), is inviting applications for fully funded, CPD-eligible short courses and postgraduate scholarships for health professionals.

These scholarships aim to strengthen Africa’s healthcare workforce by supporting talented professionals and students who are passionate about improving public health systems and driving innovation in the sector.


MASTERCARD FOUNDATION FULLY FUNDED HEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

Eligible Programs

The scholarship covers a range of postgraduate programs offered at the School of Public Health, KNUST, including:

  • MPH / MSc. Health Services Planning and Management (HSPM)
  • MPH / MSc. Global Health and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
  • MPhil Health Systems Research and Management (HSRM)
  • MPhil Field Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics (FEAB)
  • PhD Public Health (Field Epidemiology and Applied Biostatistics)
    Research Focus: Epidemics or Pandemics Preparedness and Response
  • PhD Public Health (Non-Communicable Diseases – NCDs)
    Research Focus: Digitalization in NCDs, Diabetes, Hypertension, Road Traffic Accidents, Cardiovascular Diseases, and related areas.

These programs are designed to equip professionals with the knowledge to handle emerging health challenges, improve community-level health systems, and develop data-driven policies for sustainable healthcare delivery.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduate of KNUST or any Mastercard Foundation Africa Health Collaborative Partner University, such as:
    • Addis Ababa University
    • African Leadership University
    • Ashesi University
    • Moi University
    • University of Cape Town
    • University of Toronto
    • Amref International University / Amref Health Africa
    • African Institute for Mathematical Sciences
  • Hold a good first degree in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, environmental health, or any related life or social science discipline.
  • Have a master’s degree (CWA ≥ 65%) and at least one publication in a peer-reviewed journal (for PhD applicants).
  • Be proficient in English and a Primary Healthcare professional working at community, district, or municipal level.
  • Secure admission to the selected program before applying for the scholarship.
  • Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive full funding, which includes:

  • Tuition fees and all related charges
  • Monthly stipends
  • Hostel accommodation
  • Research and fieldwork support

MASTERCARD FOUNDATION FULLY FUNDED HEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants are required to complete two applications:

1. Programme Application

Purchase a Postgraduate Ghanaian e-Voucher (GH¢350.00) by dialing 41555# on any network or through the KNUST Admissions Portal.
International applicants should purchase the Postgraduate International form (GH¢2,325.00) via debit or credit card on the same portal.

2. Scholarship Application

Proceed to the Mastercard Foundation Africa Health Collaborative Scholarship Portal and complete your application there.


Application Deadlines

  • Main Scholarship Programs: Monday, 22nd December 2025, 23:59:59

Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.
