For admission into programmes of study at Kabete National Polytechnic, an applicant must meet the following requirements based on the qualification level they are applying for.

KABETE NATIONAL POLYTECHNIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Kabete National Polytechnic offers programmes structured under Kenya’s National Qualifications Framework (NQF). The minimum entry requirements for each level, as confirmed by KUCCPS placement data and the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA), are as follows:

General Admission Requirements

Admission requirements for diploma, certificate, and advanced diploma programmes:

• KCSE result slip / Certificate or equivalent
• Two (2) coloured passport size photographs
• Copy of National ID, Passport, or Birth Certificate

In summary:

• For Level 4 Certificate programmes: a minimum KCSE mean grade of D+ and above.
• For Level 5 Diploma programmes: a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ and above.
• For Level 6 Advanced / Higher Diploma programmes (e.g., Business Management, Social Work): a minimum KCSE mean grade of C and above.
• For electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering diploma courses: a minimum KCSE mean grade of C+ and above, with a minimum of D+ in both Mathematics and Physics.
• For engineering certificate courses: a minimum KCSE mean grade of D+ with a minimum of D plain in Physics or Mathematics.

Please note: Many programmes carry additional subject-specific prerequisites beyond the general mean grade. For example, Business Management requires a pass in Mathematics. Applicants should verify the exact subject requirements for their chosen programme on the official KUCCPS portal before applying.

Alternative qualifications: Applicants holding the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) or the Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) may also be considered for admission. These equivalencies are formally recognized by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA). Applicants with alternative qualifications should contact the KNP admissions office directly for an evaluation of their credentials.
