We pleased to present to you the National Police Service (NPS) recruitment for the year 2021 and how to apply. It involves the Job titles, roles/responsibilities, requirements, recruitment dates and centres.

Public Service Commission (PSC) Shortlisted Applicants - 2020

The Inspector General, in exercise of powers delegated to him by the National Police Service Commission, seek to recruit 300 suitably qualified applicants to be trained as Cadet Inspectors of Police and 4,700 suitably qualified applicants to be trained as Police Constables. The training period will not be less than nine (9) months. Applications must be submitted online before 15th February, 2021. Shortlisted Candidates will be notified through the application portal between 18th and 19th February, 2021. which is scheduled to take place in 2021.

Every year the National Police Service (NPS) publishes vacant position for interested & qualified Kenyan citizens to apply for. This year is not an exception. Therefore the vacant positions are listed below together with their requirements, roles and qualifications.

VACANT POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS IN THE NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE (NPS)

The prospective candidates willing to join the Kenya Defence Forces MUST meet the following conditions and academic qualifications:

NPS RECRUITMENT POSITIONS, ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATIONS

1. CADET INSPECTORS

The Applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of Kenya
  • Hold a Kenya National Identity Card
  • Must be a holder of at least an undergraduate degree from a recognized University/Institution and a minimum mean grade of C (Plus) with C+ (Plus) in English or Kiswahili in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination.
  • Be aged between 22 and 30 years
  •  Must be registered with the relevant statutory body, where applicable.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
  • Be physically and medically fit
  • Have no criminal record or pending criminal charges
  • Candidates with courses in Medicine, Engineering, Forensic Science, Ballistics, Education and Law will have an added advantage.
  • Female Candidates must NOT be pregnant at recruitment and during the ENTIRE training period.

NOTE:

An applicant who

  • Canvasses directly or indirectly,
  • Willfully presents false academic certificates and testimonials or
  •  Engages in any corrupt activity

Shall be disqualified, and in the case of (b) and (c) will in addition be arrested and prosecuted. Under section 25 of the National Police Service Commission Act, any person who willfully gives to the Commission any information which is false or misleading in any material particular, commits an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding two hundred thousand shillings (Ksh. 200,000) or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years or both.

2. POLICE CONSTABLES

The Applicant must:

  • Be a citizen of Kenya
  • Hold a Kenya National Identity Card
  • Possess a minimum mean grade of D+ (D Plus) and above in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination or its equivalent from an examination body recognized in Kenya with a D+ (D Plus) and above in either English or Kiswahili languages
  • Be aged between 18 and 28 years
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
  • Be physically and Medically fit
  • Have no criminal record or pending criminal charges
  • Female Candidates must NOT be pregnant at recruitment and during the ENTIRE training period.

NOTE:

  • Examinations Result slips shall not be accepted.
  • An applicant who

APPLICATION SUBMISSION
All Candidates must complete the prescribed application form obtainable from ANY of the following:

  • The nearest Sub County Police Commander (SCPC) or any Police Station.
  • The nearest Sub County Administration Police Commander’s (CIPU) Offices.
  • County Commissioner’s Offices
  • The nearest Huduma Centre
  • Forms can also be downloaded from the following websites: www.npsc.go.ke, www.administrationpolice.go.ke www.nationalpolice.go.ke, www.cid.go.ke www.kenyapolice.go.ke AND www.mygov.go.ke,

All applications must be submitted in duplicate accompanied with the following documents:

  • A copy of the academic certificates and testimonials
  • A copy of the Kenya National ID
  • A copy of the applicant’s Birth Certificate
  •  KRA PIN Certificate

Applicants must present themselves at the Recruitment Centres with the duly completed form indicating the
Service of preference on the day of the recruitment exercise.
NOTE:

  • Each applicant must present the original supporting documents for verification. The originals will be returned to the applicant before leaving the recruitment centre.
  • Applicants recruited for the training into the service shall be bonded to serve in the National Police Service for a minimum period of ten (10) years.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE NATIONAL POLICE SERVICE (NPS) RECRUITMENT

All interested Candidates are required to make Online Application through the following NPS web address.

Applicants MUST ensure that all details pertaining to Personal Details, Qualifications, Experiences, Courses, Referees and Other Details are provided. The following documents will be uploaded and submitted together with the applications;-

  • Copy of ID (both sides)
  • Copies of Academic Certificates
  • School Leaving Certificates.
  • Police Clearance Certificate

ONLY Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for interview as scheduled

VERIFICATION/INTERVIEW OF SHORTLISTED CANDIDATES

The shortlisted Candidates will be allowed to participate in the verification/Interviewing process, at a date and venue to be communicated.
NOTE:

  •  Each applicant must present the original supporting documents for verification during the interview.
  • Applicants recruited for the training into the service shall be bonded to serve in the National Police Service for a minimum period of ten (10) years.
  • After the Verification/Interview Process, the Inspector General of National Police Service will make determination of successful candidates. Only the successful Candidates will be offered Letters of Admission to National Police Service College

Application Dates & Deadline

  • The Application is officially be open.
  • Applications must be submitted online before 15th February, 2021. Shortlisted Candidates will be notified through the application portal between 18th and 19th February, 2021. which is scheduled to take place in 2021.

NOTE. Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law. All persons presenting themselves for recruitment purposes with fake/falsified documents or caught engaging in any corrupt activity shall be arrested and prosecuted.
