CUT Residence Opening Dates for 2026 Academic Year

CUT RESIDENCE OPENING DATES FOR 2026Â
The Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) is preparing for the 2026 academic year with key dates for residence placement and move-in.
- First-Year Students: 19 January 2026
- Senior Students (Returning): 27 January 2026
Students will only be permitted to move into residences upon presentation of valid proof of residence registration. Failure to register for residence on the expected due date may lead to a penalty affecting future residence applications.
CUT RESIDENCE PLACEMENT CONDITIONS
- Students allocated a residence but who do not report within four (4) days after their registration date will automatically forfeit their placement without prior notice.
- Students who anticipate late arrival must inform the Assistant Residence Manager or the Residence Office within the four-day grace period to avoid losing their space.
- Returning students must ensure they receive their residence placement confirmation in 2025 for the 2026 year.
First-Year Students: On-Campus Arrival
- Students arriving on campus after hours should contact Campus Protection Services or use an approved taxi service.
- On arrival at the CUT Bloemfontein or Welkom campuses, they must report to the Campus Protection Services. These students will be transferred to a designated guest residence overnight and then handed over to their registered residence the next day.
- Registered students will be escorted to their assigned residence. Unregistered students will be accommodated temporarily in a guest residence until registration is finalised.
First-Year Students: Off-Campus Arrival
- Students placed in off-campus accredited residences will be transported or dropped off at their registered accommodation.
- A list of accredited service providers will be shared on the CUT website and CUT social-media platforms.
- Important note: CUT does not charge any deposit or administrative fee. Students are cautioned not to make any upfront payments to any service provider.
Senior Students (Returning)
- No senior student will be permitted to occupy or access a residence without valid proof of registration. This ensures that only properly registered students gain access.
