This is an exciting call for dynamic individuals ready to take over the airwaves. SMU FM is offering a platform to hone your skills in a professional broadcast environment.

SMU FM RADIO INTERNSHIP ROLES, ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

Available Roles (Vacancies)

SMU FM is looking to fill multiple positions across various departments. The station is currently recruiting for the following 16 positions:

9 x Presenters (On-air personalities)
4 x News Readers (Authoritative voices for current affairs)
1 x Sports Presenter (Passionate about sports coverage)
1 x Music Compiler (Curator of station sound)
1 x Technical Crew Member (Audio production and studio ops)

Eligibility and Requirements

The station is looking for SMU students and community members who possess either experience or a strong interest in radio.

General Requirements:

Voice: A clear, engaging speaking voice (essential for Presenters & News Readers).
Communication: Strong communication and on-air presentation skills.
Reliability: Professionalism and availability that aligns with the station’s programming schedule.

Role-Specific Skills:

For Presenters/News Readers: Ability to operate radio equipment during a live show (this will be tested).
For Technical Crew: Technical aptitude for audio production and studio operations (shortlisted candidates will undergo a practical technical assessment).
For Music Compilers: Excellent knowledge of music genres, sequencing, and playlist curation.

Stipend and Terms of Service

Please note the nature of this engagement:

Type of Opportunity: This is a 12-month voluntary opportunity.
It is designed for individuals seeking valuable industry experience, exposure, and professional development within a campus and community radio setting.

SMU FM RADIO INTERNSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The application process involves submitting specific demos based on the role you are applying for. All submissions must be sent via Email or WeTransfer.

Step 1: Prepare Your Documents

All Applicants: Must submit a CV (Maximum 2 pages).

Step 2: Prepare Your Portfolio/Demo

Presenters & News Readers: Submit a 2-minute audio or video demo showcasing your presenting or news-reading ability.
Technical Crew: Submit one of the following:
- A 2-minute video demonstrating how you set up/operate equipment.
- A 1–2 minute audio mix (preferably jingles) you produced.
- A portfolio (PDF/Screenshots) showing studio setup, audio editing, or podcasts.
Music Compiler: Submit the following:
- A sample curated playlist (15–20 songs) with a brief note on the theme and target audience.
- A short audio mix demonstrating genre range and flow.
- A 1-page motivation explaining your understanding of music programming.
