Management Assistant N6 Work Integrated (WIL) Learnerships for 2026
Application for the College of Cape Town Management Assistant N6 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme – 2026 Entry is now open for interested applicants by College of Cape Town in South Africa.
College of Cape Town (CCT) is offering Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities to unemployed N6 graduates to apply in fields aligned with the Management Assistant qualification. The WIL programme runs for a mandatory period of 18 months, as required by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) for the award of the National N-Diploma. CCT invites applications for the College of Cape Town Management Assistant N6 WIL Programme in the following disciplines/fields of study.

Important 2026 Notice: The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is phasing out legacy NATED qualifications. From 1 July 2026, all new learners must enrol in the new occupational replacement qualifications. If you complete your N6 programme before 30 June 2026, you will still be eligible to apply for and receive the National N-Diploma. However, if you complete your studies after this date, you will receive a Statement of Results for the new occupational qualification instead. This makes it urgent for all 2026 N6 graduates to secure and commence their 18-month WIL placement as soon as possible.
MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT N6 WIL LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY
- The College of Cape Town is requesting all National N6 Certificate: Management Assistant students that have completed their studies, not yet placed in an internship programme or employment, to contact the College’s Work Integrated Learning Department based at the Crawford Campus urgently.
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be between 18 and 35 years of age
- Must be currently unemployed and not participating in another SETA-funded learnership or internship programme
- Must have successfully completed all N4, N5, and N6 theoretical modules of the Management Assistant qualification
The 18-month WIL placement is a mandatory, non-negotiable requirement to convert your N6 Certificate into a National N-Diploma. Graduates are encouraged to engage with the CCT WIL office as a starting point, but should also independently monitor and apply for opportunities through government portals, municipal websites, and SETA funding programmes to maximise their chances of securing a placement. A proactive, multi-channel approach is essential.

The certification of documents must not be older than three to six months from the date of application.

- National Government (DPSA): Monitor the Public Service Vacancy Circulars at www.dpsa.gov.za for the 18-Month WIL Programme listings. The N6 Certificate in Management Assistant is an explicitly listed qualifying qualification.
- KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health: Advertises WIL placements for N6 Management Assistant/Secretariat graduates. Check www.kznhealth.gov.za for current adverts. The 2026 intake closed on 26 February 2026.
- Western Cape Government: The “First Work Experience – PAY Programme” and the WIL programme under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) are available for graduates. Check www.westerncape.gov.za for current openings.
- City of Cape Town: The City of Cape Town Careers and Internships portal features a dedicated “Work Integrated Learning (WIL) – Fixed Term Contract” category open to TVET college graduates including CCT students. Visit careers.capetown.gov.za.
- SASSA KZN WIL Programme: Offers monthly stipends for N6 Management Assistant graduates. Closing date for the 2026 intake was 30 March 2026.
- Services SETA: Runs a 12-month paid internship programme for unemployed N6 Management Assistant graduates with a monthly salary of R7,000. Monitor SETA portals for 2026 openings.
- ETDP SETA: Funds in-service training placements for TVET N6 graduates including Management Assistant, with a stipend of R4,000 per month.
- National Treasury 18-Month WIL Programme (Pretoria): Offers 14 paid positions with a stipend of R79,911 per annum for the 2026/27 cycle. Check the DPSA Vacancy Circulars for application instructions.
- Knysna Municipality: Advertises WIL positions specifically listing N6 Management Assistant as a qualifying field. Check www.knysna.gov.za for current adverts.
Important: During your 18-month WIL placement, you are required to complete a WIL logbook documenting the practical tasks performed and skills acquired. This logbook, together with the signed-off contract from your employer, must be submitted as part of your final application to receive the National N-Diploma. The WIL is not merely a job — it is the final, practical component of your qualification.
