RAND WATER CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Gardener ×2
Minimum Educational Qualification
- Grade 12 / N3 qualification (Essential).
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a gardening, landscaping, or similar environment.
Equipment & Technical Competence
- Able to operate horticultural machines such as brush cutters, lawnmowers, and knapsack sprayers.
- Skilled in using hand tools for maintenance and general landscaping.
Knowledge Areas
- Basic plant care and horticultural principles.
- Basic safety awareness in the workplace.
- Familiarity with fertilizers, composting, and lawn maintenance techniques.
Core Skills
- Communication and teamwork.
- Good work ethic and physical fitness.
- Basic horticultural and maintenance skills.
Attitude & Behavioural Traits
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and customer-orientated.
- Positive, team-focused attitude with willingness to follow instructions.
Salary Range
Rand Water does not publish salaries in its adverts, but entry-level gardening roles in public utilities and facilities management typically fall within:
- Estimated Range: R120,000 – R180,000 per annum (R10,000–R15,000 monthly package, depending on experience and internal grading).
- Includes basic salary and applicable company benefits (as per Rand Water’s conditions of service).
