Every year, SITA publishes vacant position for interested & qualified South African citizens to apply for. This year is not an exception. Therefore the Jobs are listed below together with their requirements, roles, salary and qualifications.

This Circular is published on a weekly basis and contains the advertisements of vacant posts and jobs in SITA. SITA CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS 

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown below.

1. SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

Minimum Qualification

  • National Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6/7) in ICT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, or Engineering (Essential).

Experience

  • 3–5 years experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) — systems development, implementation, and maintenance/enhancements in a corporate or public-sector environment.
  • SharePoint experience must include:
    • Installation and configuration of SharePoint.
    • Design, development, administration, and maintenance of SharePoint sites, Teams, and OneDrive for Business.
    • Security setup (authentication, roles, groups, audiences, item-level).
    • Troubleshooting technical and functional incidents.
    • PowerShell scripting and C#.
    • Work in SharePoint Online / Office 365 / Power BI environment.
    • Maintain technical documentation supporting SharePoint systems.

Technical Competencies (Knowledge & Skills)

  • Programming: Java, C#, Python, PHP, .NET, HTML, JavaScript.
  • Databases: MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, RUP, OpenUp, and related methodologies.
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and operating systems.
  • Understanding of software verification, validation, and testing tools.
  • Knowledge of IT governance frameworks (COBIT, ITIL).
  • Competency in Application Development, Application Maintenance & Support, and Database Administration.

Behavioural Attributes

  • Analytical problem-solving mindset.
  • Team-oriented and self-driven.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

C5 R 478 420 – R 717 630 p.a. Cost-to-Company (includes benefits)

Final notch placement depends on qualifications, experience, and SITA’s remuneration policy.

    • Visit www.eservices.gov.za.
    • Register using your South African ID and personal details.
    • Enter the One-Time PIN you receive via email/SMS to complete registration.
  • Step 2 — Create / Update Your Profile
    • Log in using your username and password.
    • Select “Employment & Labour.”
    • Click “Recruitment Citizen.”
    • Create or update your profile with current personal, educational, and employment details.
  • Step 3 — Apply for the Vacancy
  • Once logged in, go to “Recruitment Citizen.”
  • Browse available jobs or search for the Job title e.g. “Software Developer VAC00831/26”.
  • Click Apply and attach your documents:
    • Detailed CV (include employment history and responsibilities).
    • Qualifications (Diploma/Degree certificates).
    • ID document (certified).
    • Proof of relevant experience (if available).
  • Step 4 — Verify & Submit
    • Ensure all sections of your online profile are complete.
    • Check that your documents are uploaded correctly (PDF format preferred).
    • Submit before the 24 October 2025 deadline.
    • Save the confirmation reference for your records.
