Every year the ERWAT publishes vacant position for interested & qualified South African citizens to apply for. This year is not an exception. Therefore the Jobs are listed below, together with their requirements, roles, salary and qualifications.

ERWAT CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS 

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown below.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Trade Test Certificate – Fitter
  • Code EB Driver’s License
  • Computer Literacy

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years working experience as a Fitter, preferably in the wastewater or water treatment industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on wastewater and water treatment equipment.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Carry out routine maintenance on mechanical equipment according to standards and record on the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
  • Meet daily with Supervisor to plan and review maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot plant mechanical problems and implement corrective actions in consultation with Supervisors and Plant Managers.
  • Ensure strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, company safety, and technical standards.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records, job cards, and service reports.
  • Assist Supervisors with general administrative and technical duties when required.

Attributes & Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Good communication and record-keeping skills.

Possible Salary

  • Salary Band: R34,685.89 – R37,720.91 per month (Basic Salary).
  • Grade: C2 (Maintenance Department).
    (Additional company benefits may apply as per ERWAT HR policy.)
