LLB Bursary Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for this bursary program are as follows:

• The bursary is exclusively for South African citizens or students who have been granted permanent residency in South Africa. You are required to provide proof of such permanent residency in your application.
• It is only available for those pursuing an LLB degree at a local university.
• The bursary is intended for students who are in their final two years of the LLB program.
• Preference is given to applicants with outstanding academic merit or those in acute financial need.
• The applicant must have an impressive academic record. An official transcript of the applicant’s academic record, which should include the results for the first semester of the year in which the application is made, needs to be attached with the application.
• Applicants must disclose any other financial assistance, bursary, or grant they have received for the same study period.

LLB Bursary Application Procedure

To apply for this bursary, you need to follow these steps:

1. Complete the bursary application form in typed or printed writing. Ensure that you fill out all the sections comprehensively.
2. Attach a certified copy of your identity document or proof of permanent residency status.
3. Attach an official transcript of your academic record until the end of the first semester of the current year.
4. Provide at least one recent testimonial by the Dean of your Faculty of Law (or his assignee). This testimonial must reference your academic record and your ability to complete the LLB degree within the prescribed period if your application is based on serious financial need.
5. Detail your financial situation, including income and expenditure, and any financial assistance you may be receiving.
6. Sign and date your application.
7. Mail or hand deliver your application form. Please note that faxed or e-mailed application forms are not accepted.

Application Date

The application for the bursary must reach the offices by no later than 15th August 2023. This is a firm deadline and no exceptions will be made. The applications will be reviewed after the closing date, and applicants will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible thereafter.
