SARF Road Transport Bursary Eligibility

To be eligible for the SARF Bursary, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Field of Study: The bursary applies to students pursuing further education or training in disciplines such as Road Engineering (Civil), Road Transport Management, Road Transport Economics, and Road Safety Engineering. Sub-fields within Road Engineering also fall within the bursary’s scope.
  2. Level of Study: While preference is given to study at an advanced level (M.Sc., M.Tech., or above), applications at undergraduate levels may also be considered under special circumstances.
  3. Type of Study: Full-time study is preferred, but part-time or distance learning applications are also eligible.
  4. Academic Approval: Your application must be endorsed by the appropriate academic authority at your proposed institution.
  5. Work Intentions: You must satisfy the Council that you will be working within the South African road transport industry upon completing your studies.
  6. Membership: Current employees of SARF members will be given preference, all else being equal.
  7. Residency: Preference is given to South African residents, but individuals from SADC countries are also welcome to apply.
