We are pleased to announce that the application for the 2024 MINDS Scholarship Programme is now open.

The African continent, in all its grandeur and potential, is on the cusp of a significant transformation. Central to this transformation is the nurturing of leaders with a continental mindset—those who can steer the ship towards inter-country collaboration, growth, and prosperity. Launched in 2017, the MINDS Scholarship Programme is a visionary endeavour, aiming to mould such leaders by providing them with an immersive educational experience within Africa.

  • Documentation Preparation: Before commencing with the application, ensure that you have the following documents scanned, saved, and ready for uploading in PDF format (each not exceeding 2MB):
    • Data/bio page of your passport.
    • Certified academic transcript/results slip of the last two years
    • Official acceptance letter from the university. This letter should be addressed to the applicant and specify the degree, academic year of commencement, and course duration.
    • A valid study permit or visa or proof of application (optional but recommended)
    • A comprehensive CV or resume (maximum of four single-sided pages)
    • Two reference letters (maximum three pages each) that elaborate on your integrity, leadership potential, and commitment to Africa’s development
  • Application Submission: After gathering all necessary documents, proceed to the MINDS Scholarship Application Portal. Ensure you fill in all required fields accurately and upload the previously mentioned documents.
  • Ensuring Success:
    • Make sure all requirements are met and that you’ve uploaded all required documentation. Incomplete or non-compliant applications are instantly disqualified.
    • Emphasise your Pan-African perspective, robust leadership potential, and notable academic achievements in the application.
    • Diversify your university preferences. Given the stiff competition for South African institutions, considering universities outside of South Africa can be advantageous.
    • Special scholarships are available for South African citizens aiming to study elsewhere in Africa and for those interested in actuarial sciences, business sciences, and accounting at select institutions.
