HOW TO CALCULATE THE NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY, NWU ADMISSION POINT SCORE 

The formula used in calculating the NWU admission point score is a summation of all your six (6) best high school subjects (excluding Life Orientation), the total percentage you get is your admission point. The computation of the Admission Point Score takes place in the following way:
  • The results of six (6) NSC subjects were used to determine the
  • While achievement in Life Orientation (LO) is not utilized in computing the APS, a minimum achievement at Level 3 is required to obtain an NSC. An achievement at level 5 and higher in LO will be regarded as a recommendation for admission in boundary cases and to certain programmes.
  • A prospective student who achieves two APS points less than required for admission to a specific qualification may, at the discretion of Senate, be admitted conditionally to study at the NWU.
  • A prospective student who obtains a discretionary exemption may be admitted to certain qualifications or related programmes on certain conditions.
