This is to inform all prospective candidates offered provisional admission or seeking admission into the University of Pretoria (UP) for the 2026/2027 academic year that the management of the institution has released the official postgraduate tuition fee structure and related payment information.

The University of Pretoria (UP) is a public higher education institution in South Africa registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) under the Higher Education Act, 1997.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • There is no distinction in tuition fees between part-time and full-time studies.
  • Fees for the next study year are normally available from December each year.
  • The initial fee is a minimum amount payable in order to register and will later be reversed after final registration.
  • Students submitting final thesis/dissertation by 15 February may qualify for fee adjustment.
  • Students submitting by 31 March will only pay an administration fee after re-registration.
  • Students submitting after 31 March may be charged full tuition fees for the year.
  • Non-SADC postgraduate students are required to pay at least 50% of total fees before registration.
  • Accounts not settled by the prescribed deadlines may attract interest charges.
  • A 2.5% discount may apply for qualifying payments made by 30 April 2026.
