We are happy to present to you the University of Zululand, UNIZULU Graduation List 2020 and how to check your graduation status. The Vice Chancellor on behalf of the University Council, Management Board and Senate has released the names of successful graduands.
Therefore all successful graduands can check their names below or on the university website.
UNIVERSITY OF ZULULAND (UNIZULU) GRADUATION LIST FOR 2020
University of Zululand, UNIZULU Graduation ceremony for year 2020 will hold on the 7th – 14th of December 2020. Therefore, it is pertinent that all prospective graduands confirm their graduation status on the link that would be provided below. Graduands are advised to check below for the full list of graduands.
Also, other information regarding preparations for the ceremony is detailed below:
Examination Results
The results of the examinations are available from the offices of the respective Deans of Faculties/Schools during working hours.
List of Graduands
Please kindly check your UNIZULU Graduation Status HERE by inserting your correct UNIZULU student number as the provisional graduation list has been posted. The link is also for Verification of Biographical Data for Inclusion in the Programme form and Online Verification.
Kindly check if all your details are in order i.e. STUDENT NUMBER, IDENTITY/ PASSPORT NUMBER, FULL NAMES, QUALIFICATION and YEAR OF COMPLETION. If your name does not appear or if any information is incorrect, please email: Graduations Section or call 035 902 6476/6029/6198 should you have any queries.
Verification Of Academic Records And Order Of Names
Ensure that your names are correctly spelt out and are in the right order and spelling as they will appear on the Certificate and Official Transcripts (as per your National ID or Passport). Kindly liaise with your Department for confirmation.
Please note that if the confirmation of names is not done by 31st August 2020, the names will remain as in the graduation program.
Rehearsal
Graduands who wish to participate in the virtual graduation ceremony MUST avail themselves for the virtual rehearsals on Thursday, 29th October 2020 at 10.00 a.m. Please note that rehearsal is mandatory for participants; you should therefore make every effort to attend virtually through the link that will be shared in October.
Clearance & Fees
All graduands should be cleared by the UNIZULU’s Accounts Office before registering for graduation. Any outstanding fees must be paid before the deadline. Only graduands cleared by the Accounts office will be allowed to register for graduation.

Graduation Photos
An official photographer will take photographs during the graduation ceremony. Graduands may order (at their own cost) individual photographs from the photographer. For bookings and reservation, please download their forms below.

Doctoral candidates
All doctoral candidates are kindly requested to convene 30 minutes prior to the ceremony at the foyer of the King Bhekuzulu Hall.
Graduation in absentia
- If you are unable to attend your graduation ceremony, you will graduate in absentia;
- The prescribed fee when graduating in absentia is R293;
- The onus is on you to inform the Certification Office that you will be graduating in absentia;
- Once the prescribed fee has been paid, the certificate will be posted to you to the address provided;
- Certificates not handed over at the ceremony will be retained by the University;
- When collecting certificates, graduates must produce their original ID document.
Lost certificates and duplicates
You are only entitled to one original degree certificate. You may apply for a duplicate copy of your degree certificate should your original certificate be lost or damaged;
- Applications for a duplicate certificate must be accompanied by an affidavit certified by a Commissioner of Oaths.
- An amount of R430 will be payable;
- Upon collection of the duplicate certificate, proof of payment is to be submitted to the Certification Office.
Academic Attire
If the graduation is confirmed to be done virtually, then the academic dress/regalia will not be required for the virtual graduation thus no charges to incur and also note that in order to reduce contact and exposure during this current pandemic period, the university shall not be issuing any gowns to the students.
If it would be done physically, Please be advised that all graduation gear (gown, hood and cap) must be purchased or hired from Birch’s T & Co (Pty) Ltd, the official service provider to the University. Please make your bookings in this regard in advance.You will not be allowed to graduate if the colour of your academic gear is incorrect. Doors to the hall will be closed promptly at 09h00 for morning sessions and 14h00 for afternoon sessions.
Application for Degree/Diploma Certificates
The University requires one day to process your application for a degree/diploma certificate. If you have graduated and did not receive your certificate for whatever reason, you are requested to come to campus and provide us with information in the morning. You will then be expected to collect your certificate after 13h00 on the same day.Unfortunately, a certificate cannot be processed at the same time when you make your application.
