The Copperbelt University School of Medicine (CBU SM) idea was conceived in 2009.The University of Zambia school of Medicine had been the single public Medical School in Zambia for over 43 years and had produced just over 1200. The school admitted its inaugural class on the 14th November 2011. There were 72 students admitted. Of whom 26 were in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)Program and 46 in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCHB).The school has set up 3 key departments which are basic sciences, clinical sciences and dental sciences. The staff establishment for year 1 was 15.

Applicants are further advised to complete and submit the form online and thereafter print the ZANACO Student Bill Muster Form. This is what will be used to make a payment of K200.00 at any Zambia National Commercial Bank Branch (ZANACO).
COPPERBELT UNIVERSITY, CBU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission to the 2022/2023 Academic Year in the following programmes commencing in April:
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE (Degree Programme – Evening)
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences
This is a five (5) year programme conducted in the evening from 17:30hrs – 20:30hrs daily from Monday to Friday.
- Certificates – Short Courses
- Certificate in Biostatistics and
- Certificate in Research Methods
The short courses will run for 10 days in the evening from 17:30hrs – 20:30hrs from Monday to Friday.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- School Leavers with ‘A’ Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics from the Copperbelt University or from a recognised University shall be admitted to the Second Year.
- Candidates with an Advanced Certificate or a Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification with a Credit or better shall be admitted to the Second Year.
- Candidates holding a Diploma in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences or an equivalent qualification with Credit or better shall be admitted to the third Year.
- Applicants should have obtained five (5) ‘O’ Level Credits or Better, including Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Science.
