This article provides the official Western Cape school terms and holidays for 2026 and 2027, as released by the Department of Basic Education. From 2026, all provinces follow a single unified national school calendar.
The academic calendar below provides the resumption and holiday dates for new and returning students for 2026 and 2027, examination periods, and other academic activities for the year.

WCED SCHOOL SESSIONAL AND HOLIDAY DATES FOR 2026
The academic calendar for the 2026 academic session as approved by the Department of Basic Education.

Key Highlights 2026:
- Term 1: Starts on 21 January and ends on 1 April.
- Term 2: Runs from 13 April to 26 June.
- Term 3: Runs from 20 July to 2 October.
- Term 4: Final term ends on 9 December.
