MUT FIRST YEAR STUDENTS’ COMMENCEMENT DATES FOR 2020 ACADEMIC SESSION
Following the above communication, the University Senate during its 59th meeting held on 6th October 2020 approved that first year students shall report to the University continue with face-to-face learning. The University wishes to communicate to all first years as follows;
1. Reporting to the University
To prevent crowding and ensure that heath safety protocols are observed, the reporting dates shall be staggered as follows;
Reporting Date for Schools;
1. Wednesday, 21st October 2020
- School of Pure, Applied and Health Sciences
- School of Computing and Information Technology
2. Thursday, 22nd October 2020
- School of Education
- School of Humanities and Social Sciences
- School of Engineering and Technology
3. Friday, 23rd October 2020
- School of Business and Economics
- School of Hospitality and Tourism Management
Ensure strict adherence to your allotted day for reporting. Students are expected to report to the University between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm.
2. Accommodation
As indicated on your admission letters, the University has limited accommodation facilities which are issued to first years on a first come-first served basis. Booking for accommodation shall be done online via a link available on the University Website: www.mut.ac.ke.
Students who will not get places in the University hostels will have to secure accommodation from offcampus hostels. There are many off-campus hostels that have been vetted by the University which you can book online via a link that is also available on the University website.
3. Continuation of Lectures
Lectures shall continue from Monday 26th October 2020 as per a revised teaching timetable obtainable from the University website. Teaching shall be done in a blended mode of face-to-face and virtual. You are reminded to bring with you laptops with the following minimum specifications to allow access to virtual classes;
Processor: Minimum Intel Core 1.7 GHz, 4th generation
Hardisk: At least 500 GB
Memory (RAM): At least 4 GB
Operating System: Windows 8/8.1/10 Professional
Productivity Software: MS Office a minimum of 2010.
Connectivity: Wireless Enabled
The University has free Wi-Fi around the University with sufficient bandwidth to enable all students to access virtual classes easily.
