TEXILA AMERICAN UNIVERSITY, TAUZ UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

General Entry Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Courses

• Pass in the Examination Council of Zambia (ECZ) General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level with a minimum of five (5) credits
• The five credits must include the following mandatory subjects:
  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry or Physics
  • Biology or Agricultural Science
• The qualification must be from an institution that is accredited or officially recognized by the Ministry of Education or the government of the applicant’s home country
• Candidates are advised to review the eligibility requirements for their specific programme before applying

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Health Professions Foundation Program (HPFP)

Duration: 1 Year

Eligibility:

• Grade Twelve School Certificate or GCE with 5 credits or better, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and Science
• This is a mandatory preparatory programme required before entry into the MBChB and certain other health science degrees

Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT)

Duration: 4 Years

Eligibility:

• English: Credit or better
• Mathematics: Merit or better
• Biology: Credit or better
• Chemistry: Credit or better
• Physics: Credit or better

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB)

• 6 Years total (inclusive of the 1-year Health Professions Foundation Program): O-Level or A-Level with a minimum grade C or better in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Mathematics. Note: The age restriction of “below 30 years” cited in older sources is not confirmed in official 2026 TAUZ documentation and has been removed pending verification.
• 5 Years (core MBChB programme for students entering after completing the HPFP or holding a Cambridge International A-Level, Diploma in Health Science, or Bachelor of Science)
• The qualification must be from an institution that is accredited or officially recognized by the Ministry of Education or the government of the applicant’s home country
• The MBChB is accredited by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) of Zambia and approved by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ), confirming that graduates are eligible for professional licensure as medical practitioners in Zambia

Entry Requirements for a Postgraduate Diploma Programme

A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited university in a subject relevant to the course applied for.

Duration: 1 Academic Year

Entry Requirements for a Master’s Degree Programme

A Bachelor’s degree or Postgraduate Diploma from an accredited university in a subject relevant to the course applied for.

Duration: 2 Academic Years

Entry Requirements for a PhD Degree Programme

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university. Applicants must also have a minimum of three years of relevant management or professional experience, either before or after completing their Master’s degree.
