Government Mauritius – 2023 Edition of Mauritius-Africa Scholarship Scheme in Mauritius

The application for the Government Mauritius – 2023 Edition of Mauritius-Africa Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2024/2025 is now open by Government of Rwanda for all African Students in Mauritius.  

The Government of Rwanda hereby invites all outstanding students to apply for the 2024/2025 Scholarship. The Government of Rwanda has set-up a tertiary scholarship to bolster capacity, expertise and work opportunities related to different sectors. It is intended for tertiary students at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD. The university will provide financial support for high achieving candidates. The Government of Mauritius is awarding scholarships to support successful candidates in meeting their tuition fees and contributing to their living expenses during their studies in Mauritius. Furthermore, the scholarship covers return airfare by the most economical route. This will be valid for travel from the country of origin at the beginning of the studies and back to the country of origin upon successful completion. Government of Rwanda has allocated scholarship specifically for the following fields below.

Education creates opportunities for youth to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to participate in the economy, achieve upward mobility, and change the world for the better for all in it.

For the Republic of Mauritius Scholarship, we are looking for students who will be meeting the admission requirements and other eligibility requirements of the hosting universities stated below.

REPUBLIC OF MAURITIUS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY 

Eligible courses are: 

  • The scholarship will be awarded for bachelor, master, and PhD study in any subject

Candidate Requirements 

Eligible criteria are:

  • Member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries
  • For undergraduate programs, applicants should be above 18 years of age and should not have reached their 26th birthday by 01 January 2024.
  • For PhD programs, applicants should not have reached 40 years by 01 January 2024.
  • Applicants must have already applied for a full-time on-campus program (Diploma, Degree, MPhil, or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius (listed in Section 8 in the appropriate Guidelines for Applicants) for the academic year starting in 2023.
  • NA languages require.

HOW TO APPLY FOR REPUBLIC OF MAURITIUS SCHOLARSHIP

Please note you will need to ensure all the below documents are accessible on the device (cellphone, laptop, tablet, etc.) you will be using to apply.  The documents include:

  • The requirement include:
    • Application letter addressed to the Director General of HEC
    • National ID or Valid Passport
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • One recent passport-size photo
    • Completed Application Form
    • Certified copy of Birth Certificate
    • Certified copy of bio-data page of passport
    • Certified copies of educational certificates and transcripts
    • Copy of letter of conditional offer by a public Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Mauritius (if available at the time of application) or a copy of acknowledgment notice from a Mauritian Public HEI that the application for a seat has been made and the appropriate application fee has been paid.
    • Medical certificate to be duly filled and signed by a registered Medical Practitioner in Section 6 of the Application Form. This should be appropriately stamped.
    • Study/Research plan for candidates opting for a Masters’s and Doctoral studies.
    • Supporting statement from a named supervisor from a University in Mauritius for PhD candidates.
    • The required application documents will be submitted online to HEC MIS using the link: https://mis.hec.gov.rw/system-login.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS 

  • Completed applications need to be submitted on or before 30 April, 2023. Late applications will not be considered.
