Every year the Kenya Methodist University publishes vacant position for interested & qualified South African citizens to apply for. This year is not an exception. Therefore the Jobs are listed below together with their requirements, roles, salary and qualifications.

KEMU CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS 

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown below.

1. Executive Personal Assistant to the Vice Chancellor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Facilitates the efficient utilization of the vice chancellor’s time through  development and coordination of a complex calendar of appointments, meetings,  social engagements, and University and community functions with individuals and  groups;
  2. Preparation of reports, speeches and other addresses as requested by the Vice  Chancellor;
  3. Taking notes, preparing talking points and short agenda for Vice Chancellor  meetings.
  4. Coordination of timely preparation and dispatch to the Committees of the  Council and the University Council respective notices, agenda items and discussion  documents;
  5. Assisting in facilitating the effective planning and organization of Committees of  Council, Council and Board of Trustees meetings;
  6. To serve as secretariat during Committees of Council and Council meetings;
  7. Preparation of official correspondences in and outside the University as instructed;
  8.  To coordinate logistics, hospitality, accommodation among others for VIPs to  Vice-Chancellor;
  9. Providing information for reports and records through research, data retrieval,  compiling and/or tabulating statistics, and organizing and presenting the  information in useable and understandable formats;
  10. Involvement in the preparation of the graduation ceremonies;
  11. Authentication of graduation certification and other documents before sealing;
  12. To serve as a member of the University sealing Committee;
  13. Supervising staff working at the Vice-Chancellor’s office;
  14. Performing any other duty as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. A Master’s degree in social sciences, business or a related field;
  2. At least five years of increasingly responsible administrative experience which must  include an extensive knowledge of general office procedures and practices and  responsibility for the supervision of others on a regular basis;
  3. Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills; i.e., the ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written correspondence as well as with individuals in one-on-one basis;
  4. A precise command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and the correct usage of  the English language and Kiswahili;
  5. Must be adept at consistently multitasking while accurately attending to detail;
  6. Computer literacy including keyboarding ability and proficiency with word  processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software;
  7. Excellent organizational skills;
  8. Must be able to work independently, use initiative, and make substantive  decisions quickly;
  9. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those  of other cultures or backgrounds;
  10. The position requires an individual who is committed to Christian values and of  high ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.

The position will be held on a three year renewable contract. Those applying  from the Academic Division will be “seconded/deployed” to the Vice  Chancellors’ office for the contract period. The terms of service and  remuneration going with the position will be in addition to the current  remuneration of the officer.
