For teaching positions above the rank of Tutorial Fellow, employment will be on permanent and pensionable terms. This provides job security and a stable income for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, Tutorial Fellows are employed on a one-year renewable contract, to a maximum of three years. This allows for flexibility and the possibility of progression within the institution.

To be eligible for these positions, applicants must meet certain educational and professional qualifications.
Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science
The department is looking for Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and Tutorial Fellows. The requirements for these positions include:
- A PhD or equivalent degree in Physical Education, Exercise and Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy, Recreation and Sports Management, or a related field from an accredited and recognized university.
- Experience in university teaching.
- Successful supervision of students.
- Evidence of applying for grants.
- Active participation in departmental activities.
- Attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Department of Recreation and Sports Management
The department is hiring for positions similar to those in the Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science. The qualifications are similar, but the field of study should be in Leisure & Recreation Management or a related field.
Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management
The Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management is seeking to fill positions for Professors, Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and Tutorial Fellows. The qualifications for these positions include:
- An earned PhD degree or equivalent in Hospitality Management or a related area of study from an accredited and recognized University.
- A Master of Science degree in hospitality management or a related area of study from an accredited and recognized University.
- Other requirements similar to those of the other two departments.
Kenyatta University Recritment Application Procedure

Copies of certificates and testimonials should also be enclosed, along with the names and addresses of three referees who are conversant with the applicant’s competence in their area of specialization.
