Application for the South African Police Services (SAPS) Learnership—2024 Entry is now open for interested applicants by South African Police Services in South Africa.

At South African Police Services (SAPS), learnership programmes seek to tackle the issue of youth unemployment in South Africa while building critical and core skills for the bank. There are some core programmes that roll out constantly. Other programmes are rolled out based on business need and demand

The learnership uses a fully integrated approach that combines theory with practical training and leads to a recognised qualification or certification.

SAPS LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMME APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY

SAPS, funded by the South African government, will offer the following learnerships in 2024:

  • Road Policing
  • Motorway Patrol
  • By-Law Policing
  • The Equestrian Unit
  • Crime prevention
  • The Canine Unit

Candidates must meet the following requirements before applying:

  • Candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
  • Candidates must be mentally and physically fit
  • English, read, write and speak
  • Candidates must have NO criminal record
  • Computer literate
  • Candidates must hold a valid Code B Driver’s licence
  • Be self-motivated and a team player
  • Candidates must have great liaison skills
  • Candidates must possess leadership skills
  • Candidates must be permanent South African residents and citizens.
  • Candidates must be prepared to take the oath as determined by the municipality of concern after completing their learnership duration.
  • Flexibility comes with a commitment to learn and, moreover, a willingness to work.
  • Candidates must be able to handle pressure, be reliable and honest, and have a positive attitude.
  • Candidates must be prepared to be deployed anywhere within their province or department.
  • Candidates must be willing to undergo the required physical or abnormal training periods without compensation.
  • Candidates must attend all training as requested by the department.

Candidates will also be required to have or provide the following documents:

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
  • Candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae with contact details and contactable references, as well as any information they feel may be pertinent to their application.
  • Please also include certified copies of all relevant certificates, ID, and proof of address no older than three months.

Candidates who make the short list may be required to complete the following tests:

  • An English Proficiency Test
  • A fitness test, including running. This includes Males 2.4 km in 11 minutes and Females 2.4 km in 14.30 Minutes
  • A Medical Examination
  • Provide a Medical Certificate proving candidates may partake in strenuous exercises (Physical Examination)
  • Obstacle Course: Males must complete within 3 minutes, and Females within 4 Minutes
  • Firearm Training: Practical and Theoretical

SAP LEARNERSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
