SAPS VACANCIES, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Re-enlistment of 400 Former Members into the South African Police Service
The South African Police Service (SAPS) is actively seeking the re-enlistment of 400 former members in a bid to fortify their Detective Services division. These unique opportunities will see successful applicants serving within the detective environment, irrespective of their previous roles within the SAPS.
Eligibility
Interested former members must fulfill a series of requirements:
- Candidates should not exceed the age of 55 years by the closing date of the advertisement.
- Applicants must have previously served in the ranks of Constable, Sergeant, or Warrant Officer in SAPS as per Police Service Act 68, 1995.
- Successful completion of basic police training is mandatory.
- Candidates should possess a Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) or higher qualification.
- Applicants must hold a valid light motor vehicle license (code B).
- Proficiency in at least two of the official languages, with English being one of them, is necessary.
- Successful applicants must be ready for a medical examination and a psychological assessment as determined by the National Commissioner.
- Applicants should have no previous criminal convictions or pending cases, and they must not have been declared unfit to possess a firearm.
- Candidates should be ready to be deployed based on the Service’s needs, which may necessitate relocation or reasonable traveling at one’s expense.
- Applicants must not be involved in any business or activity conflicting with the integrity of the Service.
- Candidates should be willing to undergo a refresher course or any other training as determined by the National Commissioner.
Furthermore, some restrictions apply; individuals who left the Service due to retirement, dishonorable discharge, pending disciplinary inquiry, receipt of a severance package, or due to ill-health retirement will not be considered.

HOW TO APPLY FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE SERVICE, SAPS VACANCIES
PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE APPLYING::
Only the official application form (available on the SAPS website (www.saps.gov.za) and at SAPS Police Stations) will be accepted. The Z83 previously utilized will no longer be accepted. All instructions on the application form must be adhered to. Failure to do so may result in the rejection of the application. The post particulars and reference number of the post must be correctly specified on the application form. A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae as well as copies of an applicant’s ID, Senior Certificate and all educational qualifications obtained, service certificates of previous employers stating the occupation, proof of relevant experience in the field of the post and motor vehicle driver’s license must be submitted together with the application form. Due to current lockdown restrictions, copies do not have to be certified and original documentation must be produced during the selection process as requested. Qualifications and driver’s licences submitted will be subjected to verification checking with the relevant institutions. The South African Police Service will verify the residential address of applicants and conduct reference checks.
