The application for the Leiden Excellence Scholarships for the academic year 2023/2024 is now open by Leiden University for all International Students in Netherlands.
The Leiden University hereby invites all outstanding students to apply for the 2023/2024 Scholarship. The Leiden University has set-up a tertiary Scholarship to bolster capacity, expertise and work opportunities related to different sectors. It is intended for tertiary students at the Master’s degree. The university will provide financial support for high achieving candidates. The LExS is awarded for the duration of the study programme. There are three available levels of awards: € 10,000 of the tuition fee, € 15,000 of the tuition fee, and Total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee Leiden University has allocated Scholarship specifically for the following fields below.

For the Leiden Excellence Scholarships, we are looking for students who will be meeting the admission requirements and other eligibility requirements of the hosting universities stated below.
LEIDEN EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY
Eligible courses are:
- Masters program in Archaeology
- Humanities
- Medicine/LUMC
- Governance and Global Affairs, Law
- Social and Behavioural Sciences
- Science
- Interfacultair Centrum Voor Lerarenopleiding
- Onderwijsontwikkeling en Nascholing (ICLON)
- African Studies Centre
- International Institute for Asian Studies.
Candidate Requirements
Eligible criteria are:
- International students can apply for these excellence scholarships.
- For non-EEA/non-EFTA nationals who are applying for a Master’s programme at Leiden University. See additional note for UK students below.
- For students of all nationalities applying for an LLM Advanced Studies programme, or the MSC in International Relations and Diplomacy.
- Most master’s programmes at Leiden University are taught in English. This means that applicants will need to submit proof of their English-language proficiency, preferably by means of an IELTS test.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS
- Completed applications need to be submitted on or before 1 February, 2023. Late applications will not be considered.
