MUT Peer Counselors Recruitment – 2025/2026
Application for the Mangosuthu University Technology (MUT) Peer Counsellors Recruitment (2025/2026 Entry) is now open for all outstanding South African students who wish to work while schooling.
Applications are hereby invited for peer counsellor recruitment at Mangosuthu University Technology (MUT). The Counselling Services Office invites applications from students coming from humble backgrounds for the post of peer counsellors for the 2025/2026 academic year. The university is a public university located in Kenya.
Peer counselling is a special programme focusing on peers helping peers. The duty of a peer counsellor is to mediate problems between students by helping them find their answers. Prior to becoming advanced peer counsellors, the students have gone through a year of beginning peer counselling, in which they have developed skills and techniques for problem-solving and peer mediating. Details on the requirements for the position of peer counsellor are captured in the application form.

Application Requirements and Eligibility
To qualify as a Peer Helper, applicants must:
- Be a second-year student or higher.
- Have a good academic record.
- Enjoy helping others and working closely with people.
- Be a good listener with strong communication habits.
- Be motivated, responsible, and proactive.
- Have an interest in community service and student support.
- Be enthusiastic about contributing positively to the MUT community.
Selected students will receive training in:
- Facilitation
- Presentation techniques
- Counselling methods
- Emotional intelligence
- Problem-solving and decision-making
Field of Study (If Any)
There are no specific fields of study required.
Any MUT student—from engineering to management sciences—may apply, provided they meet the academic and personal criteria.

Stipend Amount (If Any)
- This is a voluntary programme.
- Peer Helpers do not receive a stipend.
- The benefit comes from the training, leadership experience, and community impact opportunities the role provides.
