The authorities of the University of Johannesburg, UJ, invite applications from suitably qualified candidates who are high school leavers, non-school leavers, and graduates from recognised institutions for admission into the various postgraduate programmes offered by the institution for the 2024–2025 academic session on a full-time and rt-time b basis.

UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Application to the University of Johannesburg, UJ, is optional and is basically done online by following the steps stated below.
UJ has TWO different methods of applying. You have the option to choose only ONE of the following:

Please note the following:
No application fee will be charged for online
applications.
If you have previously applied and have a UJ student number, please call the UJ Call Centre (011 559 4555) to ensure that your cell number and email address are captured on our student database. This will ensure you receive a PIN number to complete the online application process.
An applicant must go to www.uj.ac.za/Apply and select online web application.
University of Johannesburg Offline Application Procedure
Step 1: Select your qualification study choices 1 and 2. (Ensure you meet the admission requirements as set out in this prospectus.)
Step 2: Complete the academic application form with a payment of R200 for a paper application (no payment required for online application).
Step 3: Once you have submitted your application, please allow for three weeks before checking on the status of your application. If your application meets the necessary requirements and there is space in your selected programme, you will be informed on whether your application has been successful or not.
Please note that all official communication will be sent via email. You may also go to the UJ website to check your application status using your ID or student number.
University of Johannesburg, UJ Application for International Students
Admission for all applicants is subject to faculty qualifications and admission point score requirements. Registration of admitted international applicants is subject to compliance requirements as stipulated by Immigration Act No. 13 of 2002, the regulations made under the University’s policy.
You may apply for the UJ online application at www.uj.ac.za and follow a link to Apply@UJ, or you may download the application form, which should either be submitted to the Student Enrollment Centre or mailed to the University.

All international applicants are advised not to make any payments whatsoever to any person.
Online application are free
The University charges R200 for hardcopy applications, which should be accompanied by a proof of payment.
All international applicants should take note of the following:

Undergraduate degree-seeking applicants
In order to study for a South African degree, applicants are required to have achieved the equivalent of a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement. All
international applicants with high school results or qualifications achieved outside of the Republic of South Africa require a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board of South Africa for admission into undergraduate degree studies. All degree-seeking applicants are required to submit the following supporting documents, which must be certified for submission to the Matriculation Board (USAF):
Completed Form M30 (this form can be downloaded on the Matriculation Board website, www.he-enrol.ac.za) with proof
of exemption fee payment
Exemption fee as determined by the
Matriculation Board (see website: www.he-enrol.ac.za)
Diploma- and certificate-seeking applicants
Should you wish to apply for a certificate or diploma qualification, you do not require an endorsement or conditional exemption from the Matriculation Board (USAF).
Compulsory Study Visa
All accepted International applicants (passport holders) are required by law, upon receipt of their admission or acceptance letter, to immediately apply for a study visa in line with Immigration Act No. 13 of 2002, Immigration Regulations.

Interested applicants applying for a new qualification must submit the necessary documents. The due date for uploading the required documents is the closing date for applications. Documents submitted after the closing date for applications will be accepted.
University of Johannesburg (UJ) is not liable to provide scanners or electronic devices. Always ensure that your documents are scanned and uploaded to an electronic device before starting the application process.
If you did not upload supporting documentation at the time of application, you can still do so via the student self-service portal
Log in with your personal number and the first six digits of your ID.
Current Matriculants: Upload your final Grade 11 Results. The results must be certified and bear your school stamp.
Already Matriculated: Upload certified copies of all your matriculation certificates/foreign school leaving certificates. A physical/hard copy of the certificates, originally certified, must be submitted to the Wits Student Enrollment Centre (SEnC), Ground Floor, Solomon Mahlangu House (Senate House), Wits University via hand delivery, registered mail or courier.
Other Tertiary Institutions: Upload a certified copy of academic records for ALL tertiary registrations, inclusive of statement/certificate of good conduct, stamped by the institution’s registrar.
UNIVERSITY OF JOHANNESBURG APPLICATION FEE
When you apply with a paper/hardcopy application form for admission to the University of Johannesburg, please pay the application fee of R200 into UJ’s bank account (first-time applicants only). Alternatively, you may apply online, for which no application fee will be charged.

when you submit your paper/hardcopy application form.
Be sure to make a photocopy of your deposit slip and keep it for your own records.
Residence deposit: R1 220.
Note: This fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through the University of Johannesburg, UJ, do not qualify for admission to the University of Johannesburg, UJ or cannot be offered a space due to limited spaces available.
The due date for the application fee is the closing date for the application period. Any application submitted without an application fee paid on time will not be processed. Please ensure that you keep a copy of your proof of payment.
Importantly, make sure that your application is complete
If your application for admission to study through the University of Johannesburg is incomplete, you will have to re-apply during the next application period.
