Accessed 26 Apr. 2023.[/mfn] This exciting opportunity offers 20 fully funded fellowships for Master’s programs at the University of Nairobi (UoN) and Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny (UFHB), starting in September 2023.
Future African Savannas (AFAS) Scholarship Benefits
The AFAS scholarship program offers:
- Full tuition coverage for the two-year Master’s program
- Monthly stipend of €350 (in equivalent local currency)
- Valid health insurance for the duration of the program
- A laptop computer
- Research funds upon completion of course modules and approval of research proposal
Successful completion of the program will prepare graduates for leading roles in biodiversity science-policy interfaces, as well as career opportunities in international NGOs, governmental organizations, academia, or consultancy.
Future African Savannas (AFAS) Scholarship Eligibility
Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny (UFHB) Applicants
- Completed Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline
- Must not be older than 26 years on October 2, 2023
- Full-time commitment; no outside work permitted
- Willingness to reside on UFHB campus for the duration of the program
- Applicants should be from Western Africa, Cameroon, or Democratic Republic of Congo
University of Nairobi (UoN) Applicants
- Completed Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline
- Must not be older than 26 years on October 2, 2023
- Full-time commitment; no outside work permitted
- Willingness to reside on a UoN campus for the duration of the program
- Applicants should be from Eastern African countries, Tanzania, or Chad
Future African Savannas (AFAS) Scholarship Application Procedure
- Prepare the following documents in English or with certified translations:
- Letter of motivation (1 page)
- Curriculum vitae (CV) with a photo
- Birth certificate
- Copy of passport biodata page
- University-certified diplomas, certificates, and transcripts
- English language certificate (if applicable)
- Two signed letters of recommendation (at least one from a staff member of the last degree institution)
- Submit all documents as one PDF in the order listed above to either the University of Nairobi or Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny (but not both).
- Shortlisted applicants will be notified about their interview dates via email.
- Additional requirements for UoN applicants: Seek admission to the UoN Master’s Program in Climate Change Adaptation and follow the steps provided for diploma and university degrees, application fee, and confirmation of AFAS scholarship.
