HOW TO ACCESS AND REGISTER ON THE ESSA ONLINE REGISTRATION PORTAL

ESSA Online Registration guide

This guide will help you understand how the ESSA online registration system works and how to apply for vacancies online. Here is an overview of the procedure to be followed:

  1. Register as a user
  2. Create a profile (Resume or Curriculum Vitae)
  3. View vacancies and select the vacancy you wish to apply for.
  4. Review my CV
  5. View the applications you have applied for by clicking “Apply.”.
INFORMATION YOU NEED TO HAVE READY THAT WILL ASSIST YOU WITH YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION.
  • Personal Email address
  • Detailed CV
  • ID number
  • Qualifications, including registration certificate(s)
  • Referees

If you do not have an email address, you can get one for free from online services, for example, Webmail or Yahoo.

If you do not have an identity number or your registration is unsuccessful, you will need to visit your closest Department of Home Affairs office to apply for or verify your identity number.

Once you have registered successfully, your username and password will be emailed to you.

Detailed instructions on how to access the ESSA Online Registration Portal are as follows:

  • Go to https://essa.labour.gov.za
  • If this is your first visit, please create your profile by clicking the link on the left-hand panel ‘REGISTER INDIVIDUAL’.
  • Read through the ‘TERMS and CONDITIONS’ before proceeding by selecting either accept or decline. Then click on ‘SUBMIT’
  • Enter your details on the Create profile page, and then click on the ‘REGISTER button.
  • You will then receive a notification indicating that your profile has been created and that a verification email has been sent to your email address.
  • Go to the message in your email inbox and click on the verification link. You will be asked to enter your identification number or username, if you have selected one. After entering this information in the block provided, click on the ‘Verify email’ button.
  • You will then be asked to set a password and confirm the password. Enter your password, confirm it, and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  • The Create Profile screen will allow you to add a mobile number (which will also be verified), select a username (optional), and add a security question if you need help recovering your lost or forgotten password.
  • You will be redirected to the below Jobs page.

How to log in using existing credentials

  • If you already have login credentials, you can sign in by entering your ID number, email, or username and inserting your password, and then clicking on the ‘Log In’ button.
  • You will be redirected to the following page; click on the ‘Jobs’ tab.
  • You will be redirected to the below ‘Jobs’ page.
