Motivation letter for internship should also follow the structure of the formal business letter, having your address and contacts under your name, in the upper right corner of the page. Below, by the left, write the name, function, organization and contacts of the person you are writing to.

When you know the name of the person who is going to read your letter, you should address the letter directly to him/her. If you do not know the name and contact address the letter to Human Resources. Under the receiver’s address, write the date of the day when you are writing the motivational letter.

In terms of the structure, there are basically two ways to structure your motivational letter:

You can either choose the 3-paragraph structure which comprises an introduction, body and conclusion, or the 5-paragraph structure where the only difference lies in the splitting of the body into 3 separate paragraphs.

For the latter option, it is used when you want to be more factual as well as sharing each unique experience and achievement in separate paragraphs. In all of these, remember the target is one page which shouldn’t exceed 1000 words maximum and 600 words minimum.

Motivation letter is not just a letter you rush into without prior preparation. It is an important letter that can bring your dreams to reality.  Therefore, before you start writing, make sure you have your ideas properly arranged and summarized. Find out more about the organisation you’re applying to. Their website is just a perfect place to get such information in one click.

In other words, know the basics of the company.

2. What to Include In Your Motivational Letter

Often, when asked to write Motivational letter, a lot of people include irrelevant information and by the time they are done, they would have succeeded to let her go.

Thus, when writing a motivational letters endeavour to include the following.

  • Use one paragraph to introduce yourself. Write about what makes you unique
  • Ensure you explain why you’ve applied for the role. Be interesting.
  • Also, tell them about your work and study experiences. Also give examples where necessary and why it is relevant.
  • If you have had some international experience Have you studied aboard? How was it?
  • If by chance you applied for International Internship, also mention your motivation to do an internship abroad.

3. Ending a Motivation Letter

The closing paragraph of a motivational letter must be as compelling as the introduction. Usually, it usually includes a call to action that needs the reader to take action. Then the closing has no particular way but you can use some of the following phrases:

  • I look forward to hearing from you/ seeing you/ your reply.
  • If you require any further information, feel free to contact me.
  • Thank you for taking this into consideration.
  • Should you need any further information, I’m always available for that.

PROCEED WITH THE WRITING PROCESS OF THE INTERNSHIP MOTIVATION LETTER

After you must have put your facts together, you proceed to write.

1. The introduction:

Before the formal salutation of “Dear Sir/Madam” or “Dear (name)” as the case maybe, make sure the letter has both the address of the writer and recipient and has a simple heading. To avoid complications, stick with “Letter of Motivation”.

The introductory part is strictly where you give a personal pitch and introduction. It’s also where you let them know who you are, what you do and why you are applying.

2. The Body:

This is where you use both past and present experience to prove that you’re a perfect candidate for the admission. Avoid appearing desperate and beggarly. Exude some confidence and resist the urge to lie.

3. The conclusion:

Avoid much talk here. To keep it simple, you can do a quick summary of your main points just to remind them why you deserve the admission, after which you stick to the almost common strategy of being thankful and making a call to action.
