1. COMMUNITY ENGAGERS

Key Attributes

  • Sound computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and health information systems (e.g. TIER.Net)
  • Thorough attention to detail
  • Demonstrable compassion, emotional maturity, perceptiveness, tact, integrity and tolerance
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish a rapport with individuals and groups in order to convey information in an appealing manner
  • Oral and written fluency in isiZulu and English is essential
  • A valid drivers’ licence is essential.

Education Required

  • Diploma

Qualification Required

  • A recognised qualification in Social Sciences, Community Development or Health Sciences, plus registration with an appropriate body or more than five years of experience in community health settings
  • An HIV Testing and Counselling Certificate, with comprehensive knowledge of and skills in HIV and TB prevention, treatment, care and support programmes

Experience Required

  • Understanding of DoH guidelines and interventions on HIV prevention and management
  • At least one year’s experience in community engagement and co-ordination, with good knowledge of the specific local population, community resources, socio-economic challenges and social agencies
  • A minimum of one year’s experience as a research assistant or qualitative data collector in a healthcare implementation project as an added advantage

Remuneration

  • A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s job grading system will be offered.
