1. Employment Equity Manager (P7) — Human Capital Management Division: Transformation Department
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Human Resources, Social Sciences or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience with employment equity and anti-discrimination legislation; track record developing and implementing Employment Equity (EE) Plans in a large organisation (higher-education experience advantageous).
- Knowledge & skills: Strong working knowledge of South African EE legislation (EEA), BCEA, Department of Employment & Labour regulations; data/analytical skills for workforce profiling and reporting; stakeholder engagement; training design; conflict-resolution skills.
- Behavioural attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, leadership/advocacy capability, ability to influence at senior levels.

Open the full listing on the UJ e-recruitment portal and read the entire job profile (responsibilities, competency details and the small print). This advert is hosted on UJ’s PNET e-recruitment platform. - Step 2 — Prepare documents (PDFs preferred)
Required (must upload before submission):- Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Full contact details of at least three traceable & credible referees (names, titles, telephone numbers and emails).
- Copy of highest academic qualification.
- Proof of professional registration (if applicable).
- If applying for academic posts: list of accredited research output / creative portfolio (not applicable here).
Make sure your CV includes brief reasons for leaving prior roles if asked.
- Step 3 — Register / log in on the UJ e-recruitment portal (PNET)
- Go to the UJ careers page (jobs.uj.ac.za) and click Apply for advert uj_002146. You will be redirected to the PNET applicant portal. Create an account or log in. The portal will require a valid email, password (meets minimum rules) and mobile number for account recovery. Save your login details.
- Step 4 — Upload documents and complete all online questions
- Upload your CV and all required supporting documents (clearly labelled:
Surname_Firstname_CV.pdf,Surname_Firstname_Qualification.pdf, etc.). - Answer every question fully in the online form — the advert warns incomplete answers will lead to disqualification. Do not attempt to email your documents unless the system explicitly asks you to.

- Step 7 — Prepare for assessment
- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to present and attend an interview and may do psychometric tests. Prepare a concise presentation (10–15 minutes) that covers your EE plan experience, strategic interventions you led, data analytics examples and stakeholder wins. Ensure your referees are briefed and contactable.
Possible salary (how to present it in the advert)
- Benchmark guidance (for applicants and hiring managers who want a realistic range): senior EE/DEI Manager roles in South Africa typically benchmark between ~R450,000 and R950,000 p.a. total package depending on sector, responsibility and seniority. (Example sources: PayScale average for equity management ~R490k/yr; SalaryExpert DEI/Manager estimates ~R750k/yr; some agency adverts show monthly packages ~R60k–R80k). Use these only as broad guidance — UJ’s “market related” offer will be influenced by internal grade and candidate seniority.
