| 15.1 Upfront payment is the first advance payment towards tuition and residence fees and must be paid before registration can take place. This amount will be credited towards your student fees account. Please note that previous debt must be settled then upfront payment be made. | |
| 15.2 Should a student wish to register for modules costing less than the required upfront payment, the cost of the modules as well as the administration fee and/or other related fees are payable in full before registration. | |

| 16. UPFRONT PAYMENT EXEMPTIONS | |
| 16.1 The following students are exempted from paying the upfront payments, provided that outstanding debt is fully settled before registration: | |
| i. Successful NSFAS and Debt Relief applications. | |
| ii. Exchange students from partner institutions with whom the International Office has formal agreements. | |
| iii. Students with approved staff subsidy. | |
| iv. Students qualifying for grants/bursaries where the University of Limpopo is the fund administrator. Prior to registration, written confirmation of the grant or bursary is required from the University Financial Aid Office. The amount should exceed the applicable required down payment. If the amount is less than the required down payment, the student will be expected to pay the difference before registration. | |
| v. Sponsored students will be exempted from the upfront payment if the value of the sponsorship exceeds the required down payment. The letter of authority must be submitted annually and must meet the following requirements of the University of Limpopo: | |
| (a) The sponsorship confirmation letter must contain the student number; | |
| (b) The letter of authority must be on an official company letterhead; | |
| (c) The letter of authority must be addressed to the University of Limpopo; | |
| (d) The letter of authority must be signed by the employer; | |
| (e) The letter of authority must specify the employerās commitments; | |
| (f) The sponsorship may NOT be subject to academic performance; | |
| (g) The letter of authority must confirm sponsorship (an application for a loan or bursary is not acceptable); | |
| (h) The letter of authority (including bank loan confirmation letters) must indicate that the payments will be made directly to the University of Limpopo, not to the student; | |
| (i) E-mailed notification of sponsorship must include the confirmation letter on an official company letterhead; | |
| (j) If the sponsorship is for a specified amount, the amount should exceed the applicable required upfront payment. If the amount is less than the required upfront payment, the student will be expected to make up the difference before registration will be allowed; | |
| (k) The letter of authority is subject to the approval of the University of Limpopo; | |
| (l) Sponsorship documentation for the current registration will only be considered if the studentās outstanding debt of previous years is paid in full prior to registration; | |
| (m) The signee of the sponsorship letter may not be the student or a relative; | |
| (n) The sponsorship letter is submitted before 01 November prior to the academic year is awarded for. | |
| 17. APPLICATION FEES | |
| 17.1 An application will not be processed until the applicable fees in the table below have been paid. Application fees are not refundable under any circumstances. Application fees are not applicable to University of Limpopo students who continue their studies consecutively. | |
| 17.2 Application fees do not form part of the student account; therefore, it will not reflect on the student account statement. Enquiries about application fee payments should be addressed to Revenue Management Office. | |
