- Pass (50%) in Biology or Chemistry, at least (40%) in the remaining science courses, Overall Weighted Mean of at least 50% and 50% in agricultural core courses.
- Pass (50%) in Biology or Chemistry, at least 40% in the remaining science courses, Overall Weighted Mean of At least 50% in the common 1st year of Bachelor of Science Programme.
- Pass with Credit in Diploma in Home Economics and other related fields of study obtained from an institution recognized by Senate of the National University of Lesotho.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
DIPLOMA IN AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION: Requirements:- A pass with credit or better at the end of year II with LAC.
- Teachers’ certificate or any equivalent qualification
- COSC or its equivalent in the 1st or 2nd class. Four credits including English Language, a minimum aggregate of 34 in the best six passed subjects and any other equivalent qualifications approved by Senate of NUL on advice of the Faculty of Education.
- A minimum pass with 1st or 2nd class in Dip. Ed. Secondary from Lesotho College of Education (LCE), a minimum of Second Class Pass in Secondary Teacher’s Certificate or a Credit in Diploma in Education Secondary. The 2 years’ experience no longer considered.
- COSC or its equivalent in the 1st or 2nd class. Four credits including Mathematics aggregate of 34 for the best six passed subjects, an approved science subject (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science and Combination of the Combined Sciences. Human and Social Biology is not an approved Science subject, a minimum of 7(D) in English Language.
- A pass with credit in Diploma in Science Education; STC; or Diploma in Education (Secondary) A minimum of second class pass in Secondary Teachers Certificate (STC) of Lesotho College of Education, and a major in Science And Mathematics and an equivalent qualifications approved by Senate of NUL on advise of the Faculty of Education.
- Diploma in Education (Primary) – DEP or the Diploma in Primary Education (DPE) offered by the Lesotho College of Education (LCE), plus a minimum of 5 years teaching experience. Any other equivalent qualification as shall be determined by the Senate, must also be practicing teachers.
- Normal entrance qualifications shall be a B.A.Ed., B.Ed. and B.Sc. Ed. Degree (or equivalent) plus a year of teaching experience (or Equivalent).
- Persons with University Diploma in Education (Second Class) of Higher Education Diploma (Teaching) plus a minimum of three years’ teaching experience (or equivalent) may also be considered upon submission of a good recommendation by the Education Secretary and Inspectorate of Education Ministry concerned.
FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: [DIRECT] – 4 YEARS Admission Requirements: For entry into the BSc Environmental Health Degree Program the following shall be the minimum entry requirements- Sat for a minimum of 6 (six) subjects in LGCSE examinations
- Obtained a C grade or better in Mathematics
- Obtained a C grade or better in Biology or Physical Science
- Obtained a C grade or better in English Language
- Obtained a C grade or better in one other subject
- Obtained a D grade or better in any other two subjects
- Pass the Common First Year examinations of FOST with an OWM of 50 and above and passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and at least an E in one of the Maths.
- Meet the FOHS 3.02 requirements.
- Hold a Diploma in Environmental Health or any relevant Bachelor of Science degree from recognised institutions by the Senate of the NUL.
- Sat for a minimum of 6 (six) subjects in LGCSE examinations
- Obtained a C grade or better in Mathematics
- Obtained a C grade or better in Biology or Physical Science
- Obtained a C grade or better in English Language
- Obtained a C grade or better in one other subject
- Obtained a D grade or better in any other two subjects
- At least a D PASS in Biology, Chemistry and Physics of the common First year

- Hold a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology in merit or higher division.
- Pass in International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations in Chemistry and Biology and either Physics or Mathematics with a score of at least 4 at higher level in Biology or Chemistry and 3 in Mathematics and Physics at the same level.
- Pass in Advanced level General Certificate of Education (GCE A-level) examinations with a minimum aggregate of 9 in Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics
- Sat for a minimum of 6 (six) subjects in LGCSE examinations
- Obtained a C grade or better in Mathematics
- Obtained a C grade or better in Biology or Physical Science

- Pass in International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics with a score of at least 4 in Biology and Chemistry and 3 in either Mathematics or Physics.
- Passes at GCE Advanced level in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics or Physics and an aggregate of at least 9 points.
FACULTY OF HUMANITIES ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
DIPLOMA IN PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELING – 2 YEARS Admission Requirements:- COSC or its equivalent in the 3rd class pass; a pass in English Language; Aggregate not exceeding 40 in the best 6 passed subjects.
- COSC or its equivalent with at least a Third Class Pass in six subjects and an aggregate of 40 or better.

- A student must have obtained a pass with credit in Mathematics in the COSC examinations or its recognized equivalent as well as a pass with credit in an approved Science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science or Physics).
- A student must have grade D or 7 or equivalent in English Language will be considered for admission. However, some inter-faculty programmes require that the prospective student have a credit instead of a pass in English Language.
- A student with a grade D or 7 or equivalent, in the approved Science subject, instead of a credit, will be considered for admission into the degree programmes which do not require students to register for Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
- Successful completion of BSc. Year II in Biology of NUL or its equivalent.
- Successful completion of B.Sc. general year 1 with a minimum grade of Physics (D), Chemistry (C) and Mathematics (D).
- Successful completion of B.Sc. Year II in Physics and Mathematics of NUL and its equivalent.
- Successful completion of BS.c Year I in Geography and Environmental Studies of NUL or its equivalent.
- Successful completion of B.Sc. Year II in Physics and Computer Science at NUL or its equivalent, Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or its equivalent from other institutions recognized by NUL Senate (normally admitted at Year II).
- Successful completion of B.Sc. Year II in Physics and Computer Science of NUL or its equivalent, Diploma in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering.
- Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC), IGCSE or equivalent in the first or second Division with at least 4 credits including English Language, a grade not lower than 7(D) in mathematics and an aggregate for the six subjects not exceeding 34 and any other qualification that may be approved by the Senate of the National University of Lesotho.
FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
CERTIFICATE IN STATISTICS – 2 YEARS Admission Requirements:- COSC or equivalent in the third class or higher; at least 4 credits, including a credit or higher in Mathematics; at least a D (7) in English Language; a minimum aggregate of 38 for the best six passed subjects.
- C.O.S.C or equivalent in the first or second class; at least four credits, two of which should be in English Language and Mathematics and a minimum aggregate of 34 in the best six passed subjects. Any graduate from the Certificate in Statistics with a Credit or higher.
- COSC in the 1st or 2nd Division, 4 credits including English Language and Mathematics, a minimum Aggregate of 34 in the best six passed subjects. Diploma in Management Studies of the Institute of Extra Mural Studies (IEMS) with a Pass with Distinction/Credit, and at least a pass in C.O.S.C Mathematics and English Language OR
- Licensed Accountant of the Centre for Accounting Studies (CAS) with at least a pass in C.O.S.C Mathematics and English Language.

- In addition, the candidate must have achieved a means equivalent to at least Second Class – Second Division (60%) in the courses relevant to the area in which the candidate intends to execute his/her M.Sc. degree research project.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (PGDE) – 1 YEAR (FULL-TIME), 2 YEARS (PART-TIME) Admission Requirements:- The normal entrance requirements for (PGDE) programme shall be a relevant degree of a recognized university, provided that the degree programme has included a substantial component of studies recognized by the Faculty of Education as teaching subjects.
- Applicants are expected to have majored in two teaching subjects at undergraduate level.
- The normal entrance requirements shall be a minimum of a credit in PGDE or 2:2 in B.Ed Secondary, B.Ed Primary or any other equivalent qualification.
- The normal entrance shall be second class – second (2.ii) division in B.Ed., B.A.Ed. or B.A. + PGDE or other equivalent and relevant qualifications two (2) years relevant work experience.
- Degree holders with some background in education.
- The normal entrance qualifications for Ph.D. in Education shall be M.Ed./M.A.Ed. of the National University of Lesotho or other universities or equivalent qualifications as approved by Senate.
FACULTY OF HUMANITIES POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN DEVELOPMENT STUDIES Admission Requirements:- At least second class 2nd division (2:2) with Mean 60 in the Social Sciences, Humanities and/or any related preferred junior degree recognized by NUL.Advance certificate in Development Studies, with at least 3 Credits in development related subjects, with 4 years continuous work experience in the institution or agency recognized by DS department and its Faculty.Equivalent criteria as may be approved by DS department and its Faculty.
- BA History, Cultural and Heritage Studies, Environmental History or any first degree with an average of 60%. Students with equivalent qualifications from NUL or any other universities are considered for admission.
- An average of 60% or above in English Language and a II (ii) average in the 4 years of undergraduate programme.
- Successful completion of BA in at least Second Class Second Division category. Any other qualifications that may be approved by NUL Senate.
- An appropriate attainment of Bachelor’s Degree Honours of NUL or an equivalent qualification from NUL or other universities. An Overall Weighted Mean of 65% with all the courses passed at Honours level.
- BA in the categories of Second Class First Division II (i) or Second Class Second Division II (ii) with an average of at least 65% in the core and required courses for either languages or literature.
- Students with equivalent qualifications from other universities as may be approved by the Senate of NUL on the advice of the Faculty of Humanities.
- A good first degree from NUL at the level of 1st class, II (i) and II (ii) with an average of at least 65% in the core and required Courses for either Language or Literature. Students with equivalent Qualifications from NUL or other universities are acceptable.
- Candidates should have at least a 2 (ii) BA (Honours) in Literature in English of the National University of Lesotho or an equivalent qualification from other universities recognized by NUL Senate.
- A minimum of Second Class First Division in relevant Social Sciences or Humanities subjects or a combination of both;
- A minimum of Second Class, Second Division 2(ii) BA with 65% mean score in Development Studies courses at BA Level or;
- Equivalent qualifications from other institutions as might be approved by NUL Senate on the advice of the department.
- BA History, Cultural and Heritage studies, Environmental History at the level of at least Second Class Second Division 2
- Any other qualifications that may be approved by the NUL Senate, on the advice of the department and Faculty.
- Masters Degree of NUL or an equivalent qualification from other Universities with a minimum score of B.

- Masters’ Degree in English Language and Linguistics or an equivalent qualification from other universities recognized by NUL Senate.
- The normal requirement for admission shall be a Masters’ Degree in Literature in English obtained at NUL or an Equivalent qualification from other universities
FACULTY OF LAW POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LABOUR LAW (CONCILIATION AND ARBITRATION) – 1 YEAR Admission Requirements:- Any Bachelor’s degree recognized by NUL Senate on the advice of the Faculty of Law. Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree will be awarded a Diploma in Labour Law, (Conciliation and Arbitration).
- LLB degree in at least a Second Class, Second Division category with a minimum of 60% pass in a chosen field of specialization.
FACULTY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT (HRM) [PART-TIME] – 2 YEARS (under review) Admission Requirements:- The minimum entry requirements will normally be a Bachelor’s Degree in any field of Social Sciences, and or Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field of Human Resources Management.
- A limited number of professional qualifications with substantial knowledge in the field of Human Resources Management will be considered, but applicants may have to sit for any admission test and/or take remedial courses.
- BA Economics with a minimum of pass or better or any other relevant qualification that may be approved by the NUL Senate on the advice of the Department and Faculty.
- BA Economics with a minimum of Second Class Second Division or any other relevant qualification that may be approved by NUL Senate on the advice of the department and Faculty.
- BA/BSc. in the Second Class Second Division category Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Political Science, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with Sociology and Public Administration with Sociology all obtained at NUL.
- Any other qualifications equivalent to BA/BSc obtained from an academic institution recognized by the NUL Senate.
- Bachelor of Social Work or its equivalent in the categories of First Class and/or Second Class Division or Advanced Diploma from recognized institutions.
- BA Sociology or its equivalent in the categories of First Class and/or Second Class Divisions.
- Masters in Sociology or related field.
