How to Apply for UL Online Application 2024/2025

We are pleased and excited to announce to you that the University of Limpopo’s UL Online Application for the 2024–2025 academic year is now open to all interested and qualified applicants. We are not just making this announcement known but also providing various steps on how to apply online for University of Limpopo (UL) admission.

STEPS ON HOW TO APPLY ONLINE FOR UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO, UL ADMISSION   

To use the University of Limpopo, UL online application feature, you must have a working internet device, a valid email address which is not shared with another University of Limpopo, UL applicant, your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number. Kindly follow the easy steps below to apply online for University of Limpopo, UL admission:   

1. Apply Online   

• Step 1: Please apply online via the University of Limpopo, UL Application Portal if you are enrolling in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Study Abroad or Graduate School of Business Exchange Programme.   
• Step 2: If you are a first-time user, you will then be prompted to answer ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ to the required fields 
• Step 3: After you are done with the above steps, you will then be taken to the page where you will be required to fill in all the necessary information, like your Personal Details, Nationality, Address Information, disability information, Study Choices, Residential Address, Postal Address, Contact Details, Demographic Details, Next of Kin, Emergency Contact, Current Activities, Employment, Education, Indemnity and Undertaking, make Payment (Check the University of Limpopo, UL Application Fee and how to Pay Here) and upload the necessary Documents.   
• Step 4: Complete all the fields and click ‘Next’ at each interval to proceed.
• Step 5: When you are done, kindly click on the ‘Submit‘ button to get your application submitted.   

2. Acknowledgement of Application   

• You will receive an email confirming online submission of your application immediately.  
• Within three working days, you should receive formal acknowledgment of your application along with your student number and log-in details.  
• Note: this acknowledgement does not mean you’ve been accepted or admitted to University of Limpopo, UL.  

3. Upload Supporting Documents   

In order to consider your application, please upload every necessary supporting documents listed below on this article. If the application is incomplete, it may be declined by the University. 

4. Acceptance of Offer   

When we update your application, you will receive an email notification. Please monitor your email account closely for updates. You can also check your status online with the log-in credentials that we will send you after you apply. We are not permitted to disclose your application status telephonically.

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO, UL ONLINE APPLICATION   

Upload certified copies of the following in PDF format when you apply for undergraduate studies:

• Your ID if you are a South African citizen
• Your passport if you are an international student
• Your guardian’s or parent’s ID or passport if you are younger than 18 years
• National Senior Certificate if you have already matriculated
• Your final Grade 11 results with the school’s stamp if you are still in Grade 12
• Your academic record is only valid if you are a current student at another institution of higher learning
• accreditation from the examination board for South African universities, only if you are an international student. Apply to mb.usaf.ac.za for conditional exemption, foreign conditional exemption, or mature age conditional exemption.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION ON THE UL ONLINE APPLICATION

1. I would like to enquire about the opening of applications to study at UL for this year. What are the requirements to study?

2. What is my application status?

• To check or verify your UL Application status, log in with the student number that was assigned to you when you first applied. Please contact the admission office enrolment@ul.ac.za or Call Centre No. : 015 268 3332

3. Can I please get my student number and pin?

You can easily retrieve your PIN by following these steps:

• Step 1: Visit the “Login window”  through the UL online facilities or student portal
• Step 2: Click on “Forgotten your PIN”.
• Step 3: Read the instruction and complete the open requested fields. Click “Next”.
• Step 4: Your PIN will be sent to your email address and the cell phone number you applied with.
  If the above is unsuccessful, please contact the Enrollment Management Department Call Centre Office at 015 268 3332. You can send your date of birth and surname to enrolment@ul.ac.za so that we can search for it on our system.

4. Can I please get a quotation for studies?

• Yes, you can. Please visit the UL tuition and Fee structure page

5. When do applications open?

• You can start applying online from June every year. Kindly check the UL Application deadline and dates in order not to be left out.

6. What is the application fee?

• Online applications have a handling fee of R200 for South African applicants and R750 for international applicants. Kindly visit the UL Application fee page for more details.

7. When and where can I apply for bursaries?

• You can go to the UL website at: https://www.ul.ac.za/index.php?Entity=Financial Support for information on bursaries and funding.

8. Do I have NSFAS? Can you check my NSFAS status, please?

• NSFAS functions on its own; the university only receives a list of successful applicants and then opens their accounts to register. Please visit the official NSFAS website.

9. How and where do I apply for NSFAS?

• Applications usually open on September 1. You can apply online by checking out the steps on how to do it here. If you do not have access to online resources, you are more than welcome to visit any tertiary institution that will assist you with applying for NSFAS online. Please make sure you have a valid email address, cell phone number and the required supporting documents ready.

10. I haven’t heard anything from Funza Lushaka.

• Funza Lushaka functions on its own; the university only receives confirmation of successful applicants at the end of March. Please visit the official Funza Lushaka website at http://www.funzalushaka.doe.gov.za/home.jsp to inquire about your application.

11. When are your Open Days for UL?

• All UL Open Days are currently virtual. This is to ensure that our stakeholders stay safe and healthy.

12. Can I still change my course or qualification after applying?

• You can change your course if there is space in the faculty you would like to change to and if you meet the admission requirements. You can send your request to the admission office at: enrolment@ul.ac.za

13. How do I apply for UL residences?

• You can apply for the residences when you apply to study at UL by completing the online application. The options for the different residences are on the online application.

14. Can I still qualify to study at your university if I study at another institution?

• When you apply, you still need to add your matriculation certificate along with the academic record from your current institution. The faculty will decide on admission and credits.

15. I am having technical difficulties during the online application process; who can I contact?

16. How long does it take to get feedback after applying?

• We aim to reply as soon as possible, but we receive a large number of applications. This is also dependent on the submission of all relevant documentation and the time frame in which you apply.

17. My ID number already exists on the system; when I want to apply online, who can I contact?

18. For which courses do I qualify?

• Please visit the UL prospectus and courses, as well as our UL entry requirement regarding our courses and admission.

19. I am disabled or am in need of additional support. Who can I contact or where can I register for it?

20. I was unsuccessful in my application due to academic motivations. What does this mean?

• You do not adhere to one or all of the following requirements:
  • Do not qualify for Bacclaureus (University admission)
  • Correct APS
  • Specific subject requirements for the degree
  • Capacity limitations: Please note that, owing to specific capacity constraints, the University reserves the right to select candidates for admission to certain fields of study. This means that prospective students who comply with the minimum requirements will not automatically be admitted to the courses in question. Because of capacity limitations and the high demand from students for admission to particular fields of study, students will be selected on the basis of their Grade 12 results for admission to these fields.

21. What is an off-campus residence, and how does it work?

• Do you wonder what the difference is between an off-campus residence and a campus residence? Well, students who do not live in a residence on campus but stay in outside rooms or in their parents’ homes are classified as off-campus residences.

22. Can I apply with a birth certificate?

• No, it must be an ID.

23. What is the difference between BA and LLB?

• An LLB is a law-specific degree, and one needs an LLB to register as an advocate or attorney. The duration of the LLB degree is 4 years. The duration of the BA in Law is 3 years and consists of law subjects and one of the following as main subjects: English, Industrial Psychology, Philosophy, Political Studies, and Psychology. After completion of the BA degree, a student can add two years of full-time study and obtain an LLB degree.

24. How can I update my contact details?

• Prospective applicants (those who have already submitted their applications) can update their contact details on the applications webpage.
• Log in with your student number and chosen PIN. Click on “Already have a university number” and choose “Update Contact Details on Existing Application.”. The Contact Details page will display, and you can update your details, which will reflect throughout your application.

25. How can I update my application details?

• Prospective applicants (who have already submitted their applications) can request a change of qualification by submitting a request to the following email address: enrolment@ul.ac.za Please be sure to include your student number and contact details in the email.
