Durban Girls’ College and Somerset College, two distinguished academic institutions, along with St Stithians College, Epworth School, and Cornwall Hill College, are opening doors for aspiring educators through their 2024 Teacher Internship Programmes. These institutions are not merely schools but hubs for nurturing talent and igniting passion in both their students and teachers. Interns at these institutions will enjoy a rewarding journey of gaining hands-on experience, boosting their teaching skills, and enhancing their professional expertise.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for the teacher internship programmes include:

  • The applicant must be pursuing their B.Ed. Degree, preferably in their third or fourth year, or studying towards their PGCE.
  • Applicants must have a clear criminal record.
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with young people and commitment to their development.
  • Willingness to engage in the school’s extracurricular and aftercare programmes.
  • Evidence of active support for the school’s ethos.
  • Flexibility and comfort with using technology in the classroom.
  • Commitment to a year-long internship.

For the Dramatic Arts Internship at St Stithians College, the candidate should have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Dramatic Arts/Performing Arts, and be studying (or planning to study in 2024) a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
