We are pleased to present to you the 2022 University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) Literature/Writing Competition as well as how to apply. It involves the UL competition eligibility, requirements and the prizes involved.

Cover Letter

The University Language Planning and Development Office is inviting entries for an essay writing competition on
a variety of topics that are on campus life.

In keeping with the spirit of the institution’s functionality bi-lingual Language Policy, the ULPDO is hosting its second bi-lingual Literature Competition which is exclusively focusing on the University students and staff with the aim of encouraging, promoting and inculcating a culture of reading and writing in isiZulu and English.

UKZN LITERATURE COMPETITION PRIZES, REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY

  • You must be a bonafide student of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN).

Suggested Structure of written work:

  • Essays [Min of 2000 and Max of 3000 words; Ensure the use of font> Arial, font size> 12, and 1.5 line spacing; justify/align your work; Topic to be one cover page Bolded and Capitalized; all page numbers numbered excluding cover page]

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE UKZN LITERATURE/WRITING COMPETITION

Kindly fill in an Entry form and send it with your essay to ULPDO (Both English and isiZulu entries will be accepted.)

Ensure the form for entry is filled in and submitted to the University Language Planning and Development Office.

Application Deadline

  • The deadline for entries is on the 14 October 2022. Shortlisted writers will be contacted.
