We are thrilled to announce that the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) is now accepting applications for a two-year Learning Programmes Operations Internship. This lucrative opportunity will enable qualifying individuals to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic sector.

MQA is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that supports skills development within the mining and minerals sector. As an extension of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), we facilitate learning and development under the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998. Our organization is also deeply committed to promoting mine health and safety, operating under the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) and guided by the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) 29 of 1996.

Internship Programme Overview

This rewarding programme is exclusive to South African citizens who are unemployed and have never participated in an internship before. The successful candidate will be part of the Learning Programmes Operations Unit, reporting to the Senior Manager: Learning Programmes. Over the 24-month period, the intern will be exposed to various critical areas, including:

  • Administration related to artisan and non-artisans learnerships.
  • Participation in multiple projects like Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), Foundational Learning Competence (FLC), Adult Education and Training (AET), Artisan Aides, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and Artisan Recognition of Prior Learning (ARPL).
  • Evaluation and registration of learning programs.
  • Handling customer service for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organizing events, including meetings and workshops.
  • Assisting with travel arrangements for the Learning Programmes Unit.
  • Document control and filing.
  • Liaising with various MQA stakeholders.

The monthly stipend offered during this program is R 8, 713.50.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A Grade 12 or Matric certificate.
  • A National Diploma in Human Resources Development/Management or Administration at NQF Level 6. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification in the aforementioned fields will have an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in MS Office packages.
