SABC Intern Producer RSG Internship Eligibility
To be eligible for the Intern Producer RSG position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a National Diploma/Degree in Journalism, Media Studies, or equivalent qualifications (NQF6/7)
- Possess written and spoken mother-tongue proficiency in Afrikaans (beneficial)
- Have a good understanding of social media and its usefulness as a journalistic tool
- Demonstrate exceptional reading and writing skills, especially in Afrikaans
SABC Intern Producer RSG Internship Main Responsibilities
As an Intern Producer for RSG, your key accountabilities will include:
- Scripting and presenting Afrikaans news content
- Ensuring stories are newsworthy, compelling, accurate, and fair
- Adhering to designated Afrikaans language requirements
- Accurate and formal language usage
- Interpreting and analyzing the undercurrents and subtexts of stories
- Conducting field, archival, and other research
- Interviewing and conducting Q&As in Afrikaans when required
- Promoting Afrikaans news content on multi-media platforms and adhering to digital media guidelines
- Writing, voicing, and packaging stories in Afrikaans
- Delivering news bulletins within set duration
- Providing support and mentorship to team members and colleagues
- Establishing and maintaining news networks and contacts
- Engaging professionally with audiences to uphold SABC News’ integrity
- Adhering to South Africa’s Constitution, broadcasting and applicable legislation, ICASA regulations, the BCCSA Code of Conduct, SABC Editorial Policies, and appropriate news and current affairs style guides
