SABC Afrikaans RSG Bulletin Writer Eligibility
To be eligible for this internship, applicants must have:
- A National Diploma/Degree in Journalism or Media Studies or equivalent qualifications (NQF6/7)
- Afrikaans as their first language
- Written and spoken mother-tongue (Afrikaans) proficiency (beneficial)
- A good understanding of social media and its usefulness as a journalist tool
The successful intern will be responsible for:
- Scripting Afrikaans news content as assigned
- Ensuring that stories are newsworthy, compelling, accurate, and fair
- Adhering to designated Afrikaans language requirements
- Ensuring accurate and formal language usage
- Interpreting and analyzing undercurrents in and subtexts of stories
- Conducting field, archival, and other research
- Conducting interviews and Q&As in Afrikaans when required
- Using multi-media platforms to promote Afrikaans news content and ensuring adherence to digital media guidelines
- Writing/scripting, voicing, and packaging stories in Afrikaans as required
- Delivering news bulletins within a set duration
- Engaging professionally with audiences to promote and uphold SABC News’ integrity
- Adhering to South Africa’s Constitution, broadcasting and applicable legislation, ICASA regulations, the BCCSA Code of Conduct, SABC Editorial Policies, and appropriate news and current affairs style guides, etc.
